Where's Kimbo?
Where's Kimbo?
I know the vast majority here won't care, but I was wondering if anyone knows what he is up to, and if he will box again?
Has he priced himself out of the box ring? I thought there would be plenty of promoters looking to have him as a scalp for their heavyweights.

Re: Where's Kimbo?
I think he was trying to cash out awhile back. Someone at least semi-notable was trying to fight him (idr who), but he turned down the fight saying it wasn't for enough money. I believe the offer was $25k & Kimbo wanted $250k so they were way off on numbers.
Just within the last few weeks Kimbo has been signed by Bellator to fight MMA again. Bellator has been trying harder to compete with the UFC lately & are backed by Viacom so I'm sure Kimbo gots a nice lil check with a respectable amount of zero's on it all things considered. I expect it'll be a couple years before we see Kimbo back in the boxing ring, likely cashing out, due to this deal.

Kimbo has really grown on me since the TUF days. He's not going to be any top threat, but he is exciting to watch.
Re: Where's Kimbo?
Kimbo is fighting Ken Shamrock at a Bellator show on June 20.

One of the more embarrassing MMA main events in quite some time. I'm shocked that Shamrock can even get licensed considering his age and recent record.nfc90210 wrote:Kimbo is fighting Ken Shamrock at a Bellator show on June 20.

Oh man. I guess Kimbo is trying to cash out of the fighting business entirely. Ken went to school with Jesus or whatever, but he forgot more sh!t this week than Kimbo ever knew about MMA.nfc90210 wrote:Kimbo is fighting Ken Shamrock at a Bellator show on June 20.
I guess that means the bare knuckle Ken Shamrock fight ain't happening as basically EVERYONE (lol) predicted.

Re: Where's Kimbo?
Kimbo will probably beat Shamrock if this fight happens. Shamrock is 51 years old, chinny as hell, and hasn't had a fight of any kind in several years. The whole thing is a joke and I'd be shocked it if actually comes off.

Re: Where's Kimbo?
I need to look at who Ken was losing to I guess cuz Kimbo sucks pretty bad. But you could be right. F#ck Bellator for making me look at Ken's MMA record again lol.jujigatame wrote:Kimbo will probably beat Shamrock if this fight happens. Ken kinda has like a James Kirkland feel to him so yea I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't come off, but I feel like Kimbo is in it to win it & be it I mean $$$ so it won't be because of him. And he ain't getting any younger & iirc he gots like a diabetics bakers dozen of kids to take care of.
Re: Where's Kimbo?
Kimbo should only be matched against strikers. Shamrock even at 70 years old has a chance of submitting Kimbo.
Kimbo's not a top fighter but he's not as bad as everyone makes him seem.

Re: Where's Kimbo?
I don't know about MMA, but he's gone life and death with boxers who fight like they've been picked from the crowd. At least compared to the standard of boxer that we typically discuss on forums and see on TV I'd say he's quite poor.Kimbo should only be matched against strikers. That's true. His last boxing match was wild stuff one of the best two round fights I've seen.Kimbo has really grown on me since the TUF days. He's not going to be any top threat, but he is exciting to watch.

Re: Where's Kimbo?
Kimbo was pretty bad. He's not going down as the worst guy in the UFC since James Toney had some delusions about his own skills or just needed some money, but I think any list of the worst guys to ever fight in the UFC is likely to have Kimbo's name on it.Othro wrote: Kimbo's not a top fighter but he's not as bad as everyone makes him seem.
