I know who this isn't good news for.....
Re: Matchroom and Sauerland link up
Great stuff, more boxing on British tv can't be a bad thing. Good that we will hopefully see some British vs German prospects fighting each other.

I think it's a case of, these fights would have been on BN but are now going to sky. We've seen all these fighters, they're just switching channels.

This was always on the cards - Eddie & Kalle are good pals, and obviously the companies have worked closely before as stated in the press release.
Re: Matchroom and Sauerland link up
International superstars??? I would not call any of hearns fighters mentioned there that. The closest fighter to that tag would be Abraham, anyone ever heard of jamie McDonell reffered to as an international superstar?

Am I right in thinking Germany doesn't have a PPV system? Wonder how it'll work when Sky /Hearn decide to put on another PPV?

Yeah it's just all the shows we've already been seeing, switched over to Eddie's private sky TV channel.
Matchroom are bringing us nothing new.

Re: Matchroom and Sauerland link up
Possibly not but it's still more boxing content on Sky Sports which people have complained about (rightly so) as well as his fighters being shown on German tele which can only raise profile and lead to more fans.MightyWarrior wrote:Yeah it's just all the shows we've already been seeing, switched over to Eddie's private sky TV channel.

All boxing over here comes from terrestrial channels like RAN, Sat1, RTL, Eurosport, DMAX etc. It's brilliant.Boxerbeetle wrote:Am I right in thinking Germany doesn't have a PPV system? Wonder how it'll work when Sky /Hearn decide to put on another PPV?
Sky is only for fussball.

Haha, lucky you. I guess any PPV won't be included in the deal then?ringtoneboxing wrote:All boxing over here comes from terrestrial channels like RAN, Sat1, RTL, Eurosport, DMAX etc. It's brilliant.Boxerbeetle wrote:Am I right in thinking Germany doesn't have a PPV system? Re: Matchroom and Sauerland link up
Don't you have to pay for terrestrial TV anyway in Germany?
Re: Matchroom and Sauerland link up
Well that's shit.
Re: Matchroom and Sauerland link up
As close to an admission as you'll ever get from Hearn that Matchroom's product is not up to par in its own right.

So wish my Dad was a top promoter, three daddies boys doing the business

Re: Matchroom and Sauerland link up
I wonder if Eddie is trying to drive BN into the ground. He's nicked most of the fighters, and now he's nicking the product BN used to show. Plus, matchroom pass is (in my opinion) meant to erode subscriber levels for BN by offering something remotely similar to BN.Sklar wrote:As close to an admission as you'll ever get from Hearn that Matchroom's product is not up to par in its own right.
Fwank should fight fire with fire and launch Darts Nation.

Re: Matchroom and Sauerland link up
We're still seeing nothing that we couldn't have seen six months ago but have to pay for fightpass as well.
Re: Matchroom and Sauerland link up
So i'm pretty sure Sauerland shows haven't been on allegedly for a while now and they've never shown any of the nordic fight nights.
Re: Matchroom and Sauerland link up
Or watch it on Sky, which is almost as bad as paying for fightpass.mickey1975 wrote:We're still seeing nothing that we couldn't have seen six months ago but have to pay for fightpass as well.
Re: Matchroom and Sauerland link up
I voted good, more for the fact that the Matchroom the link up with Sauerland can help make fights between stables and that British prospects at matchroom can get experience in Germany on undercards as well.We all want promoters working together to make fights up so a link between two of the biggest promoters in Europe is a good thing. Its only a bad thing if you don`t have Sky and want the Sauerland content on allegedly instead.

Re: Matchroom and Sauerland link up
Yes, but you also pay for it in the UK. I don't pay extra to watch boxing is what I'm trying to get at.mickey1975 wrote:Don't you have to pay for terrestrial TV anyway in Germany?
As for PPV, I don't really understand what it is. The big fights that I think you shell out extra for, are shown on DMAX here.
Compared to you guys, I suppose I'm a bit spoilt.
Re: Matchroom and Sauerland link up
I would like to see clarity on what will be shown on Sky, or what is on fightpass.... from what I can gather - the Nordic Fight Night is exclusive to fightpass (e.g. not shown on Sky), when will other shows from Germany be shown exclusively on fightpass?expe wrote:Or watch it on Sky, which is almost as bad as paying for fightpass.mickey1975 wrote:We're still seeing nothing that we couldn't have seen six months ago but have to pay for fightpass as well.
From what I can remember, it might have been Chad who said it, or someone on facebook - but the german shows on allegedly were not massive ratings winners.... if Sky/Matchroom experience the same issues, then will it be on "fightpass"?
Re: Matchroom and Sauerland link up
No , we are just ripped off ! but the tide is a turning , 2 top class title fights in 2 weeks on terrestrial for us !ringtoneboxing wrote:Yes, but you also pay for it in the UK.
