Ricky burns
Watched him lose to Alex Arthur and thought he would be a domestic gatekeeper. So so wrong, and happy to be wrong.

Probably plenty over the years, but Froch stands out the most. If I'm honest, I didn't think he'd go much beyond British level.

Tyson Fury. After those two fights against McDermott I thought he had nothing to offer. Best of luck to him he is improving with each fight that goes by.

Clinton Woods. Not only won a world belt but had a decent spell as champ.

Definitely Froch and Burns (both mentioned above).

I know Froch had good amateur pedigree but until he fought Pascal we simply didnt know how tough and unrelenting he really was.

I got a shout out from Buncey back in the Setanta days after texting in saying Froch was the closest thing we had to an unbeatable fighter

I can see greatness :box:

Without a doubt Ricky Burns. After the Johanneson defeat I was at a small hall show in Linwood watching my mates pro debut and there was Ricky on the card! Just over three years later I'm watching him beat Martinez in the Kelvin hall for the world title. Great story. Went back to the drawing board with Billy Nelson and done it the hard way!

Duke McKenzie.

Underrated to this day, in my humble opinion.

Same; on the way up when Tony Dodson was British Champion, I actually thought Dodson had a good shout at beating him!

Same here. He first seemed poorly disciplined, but now is improving and has much better direction in his career.

Definitely Johnny Nelson.

After the two most pathetic world title challenges I'd ever seen against DeLeon & Warring, I thought Nelson would wither & die & not amount to much.

Although he's not an ATG, he went on to become a good & dominant 'champion'.

Fair play to Nelson for turning his career around like that.

Paul Butler

If he wins his fight next week he will have become a 2 weight World Champion, I never thought he'd get that far.

froch without a doubt totally turned my way of thinking about him the upmost respect for him now! total professsional. also khan hasnt quite got there for me yet but theres not many fighters willing to do what he has by training abroad and improving so much some other british fighters should take note of what can be achieved.
