Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
Who would make good sparring partners for Floyd and Manny, to prepare for their fight?
I think Manny should spar with Dulorme or Crawford.

Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
Pacquiao should spar with Lara.

somebody with range, quick, great footwork and defensive skills, lara is all that guy.
who comes to my mind except lara?
let me think. bradley comes to my mind, he brings in speed. brook, because he got similar size to floyd and same as floyd, brook is also very sound technicly and athleticly.
Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
Maidana sparred with Dulorme to prepare for Floyd.

FFS!
Somehow i doubt Haymon has a contract with Lara that includes a veto over who he spars with.

Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
Why on earth would Manny spar a southpaw (Lara)?
Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
Neither guy is going to find a lot of sparring partners who are stylistically similar to their opponent plus have similar height, reach, speed, footwork, etc. If Manny is able to do so, he should get guys who have good defense and have fast hands. Long arms would be a plus too. Floyd will spar with southpaws who are quick.

Terrence Crawford for PacquiaoDennis wrote:Neither guy is going to find a lot of sparring partners who are stylistically similar to their opponent plus have similar height, reach, speed, footwork, etc. If Manny is able to do so, he should get guys who have good defense and have fast hands. Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
You also have to remember that many world champions aren't going to be sparring partners for other boxers. I'm not saying that Crawford won't do it, but maybe he has to get ready for his own fight and sparring Pacquiao isn't the right fit. Crawford isn't who I would get if I was picking the sparring partners for Pacquiao.

I forgot Lara was a SP but sparring partners are paid to emulate opponents. Lara's long and fast.
Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
Right. Floyd could use Allakhverdiev as one of his sparring partners. He is a hard hitting southpaw. Of course, he lacks speed, but you can't find anybody as good as Manny in all aspects.Dennis wrote:You also have to remember that many world champions aren't going to be sparring partners for other boxers. Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
Floyd could get Errol Spence Jr, Sammy Vasquez, Austin Trout, Erickson Lubin, Chris Pearson, and Fernando Guerrero. There are a lot of other young pros and some excellent amateurs who could fit the bill too.
Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
If I am Floyd, I hire Gary Russell, take a little padding out of a regulation 8 oz glove, and tell Russell to throw with abandon.
Oh yeah, no headgear for Floyd.

Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
I think it is much easier for Floyd to find sparring partners to imitate Manny than it will be for Manny to find guys who can play "Floyd". For Manny he will need guys who are great at defense (that limits the talent pool a LOT) especially with the shoulder roll defense (reduces the potential quality sparring partners down even further) and have lightning quick reflexes and pinpoint accuracy (forget trying to find that combination). Broner wouldn't be a bad sparring partner for Manny, but you know he isn't going to help Manny get ready for Floyd.

Crawford was Bradley's sparring partner
Mosley was DLH's sparring partner for Floyd
Khan and Pacquiao sparred with one another

Actually Gary Russell wouldn't be the worst sparring partner for Floyd. But does it help Gary get ready for his upcoming world title fight?koolkc107 wrote:If I am Floyd, I hire Gary Russell, take a little padding out of a regulation 8 oz glove, and tell Russell to throw with abandon.

Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
Mosley and DLH were business partners. Khan and Pacquiao were teammates both being trained by Roach at the time. There are times when guys will do it but there are many who won't.IKSRTFO wrote:Dennis wrote:You also have to remember that many world champions aren't going to be sparring partners for other boxers. This. lol at Crawford who's a champ & a p4p cat in his own right being demoted to sparring partner.Dennis wrote:You also have to remember that many world champions aren't going to be sparring partners for other boxers. I think Floyd should bring in Errol Spence. Errol gets lotsa accolades in sparring & I believe Floyd himself hyped him after being a sparring partner in one of his last couple fights. Idk that Zab is quite as quick as he used to be, but Floyd should definitely bring in a solid southpaw with some speed.

I'd say trying to hit a defensive legend can't hurt your accuracy against a much less skilled guy. And being that Floyd is much bigger should be a plus in getting Gary ready for Gonzalez's power.
But I agree, style-wise not much there.
Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
Again, what about Dulorme?
Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
Same response as for Crawford. Dulorme is challenging Crawford for the world title. It is a huge fight for him. He needs to focus on his own training. If he thinks sparring with Manny Pacquiao is going to help him get ready for Crawford, then fine. I don't see it.VG_Addict wrote:Again, what about Dulorme?

In this aspect, Manny has an advantage. While there is no one quite as good as Floyd, Manny can find a couple guys that are very well technically and quick which are similar to Floyd.
However, Manny has an incredibly unique rhythm. He is also extremely fast, and is a southpaw. Floyd will have to figure Manny out on the fly. I believe he will do it, barring getting KOed first. The question is how long will it take him to peg Manny and get going. It took him 4 rounds against Judah. And Manny is notches above Zab.
Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
Both should go to Hollywood and get them to make some holographic projections made of one another and have it incorporate all of each other's moves and spar against that, lol.
I really don't know who would be possible to emulate the other fighter, there isn't anyone I know of in boxing that fights like either man.

Re: Sparring partners for Floyd and Manny.
Chris Eubank Jnr has officially said on his twitter feed that he is going to be part of The Money team in the build up to the fight..
So that is one of Floyd's sparring partners.
