I recently read that myself, very interesting. What a journey she has been through. Now she is former WBA featherweight champion and current WBA super featherweight champion. She has some decent names on her record, but not the very elite ones yet!

on topic, i am a lil tired of all the "tune ups" zulina munoz and marianna juarez are "fighting". they both need to step up and fight eachother already. munoz got lucky in the graf rematch. graf started slow, but was coming on before the stoppage.

I thought the Munoz vs. Juarez fight was a done deal!?! WBC has ordered it, so it must happen soon, or else Munoz will lose the belt.

On Wednesday December 3rd, Heather "The Heat" Hardy, from Brooklyn New York had her 5th fight this year. To my knowledge she has been the most active female boxer in America in 2014.
Fighting a stay busy fight, winning UD8, against Elisabeth Anderson (3-5), with the scores 79-73 and 2x 78-74.
She is still undefeated 12-0, starting her pro career in August 2012. Promoted by Lou DiBella, she is going for bigger and better things in 2015.

During her short career, she has already gotten herself a nemesis.

Fighting out of Providence, Rhode Island, the also undefeated Shelly "Shelito's Way" Vincent (13-0) has undertaken the mission to expose Heather, and take her O. Promoting a possible fight by for example showing up at Heather's fights and calling her out in the media. Her latest gesture is a self made promotion video, which is fcuking great, take a look!

After a quiet Christmas and beginning of 2015 things have started to pick up lately.

First the bad news, there will not be a fight between Mariana Juarez and Zulina Munoz. It was very anticipated between fans of women boxing. But the good news is we will get two good fights on the card they was supposed to fight.

Mariana Juarez (40-7-3) is going to fight Naoko Fujioko (12-1) from Japan, a very solid match up, and a 5 star on Boxrec.

Zulina Munoz has not gotten an opponent yet.

i would love to see cecilia and klara svenson make out. that would be hot.
i don't get the holly holm deal at all, though. she's only had like one mma fight
since officially leaving boxing. how can she possibly be making a living fighting
once a year in MMA not even in the UFC? she must make money off apearances
or modeling or something. maybe she just doesn't want to fight anymore, or at
least not fight anyone dangerous? i have to think her vs cecilia in boxing or even
kickboxing could make a vegas ppv undercard interesting or maybe even an HBO
chief support fight. i'm not sure if that would be bigger than headlining one of
those sauerland nordic fight nights. it doesn't make sense for that not to be
tempting to holm unless she has something bigger lined up. katie taylor probably
has the skills to compete with braek but she's smaller. claressa shields still looks
a little raw but she has the size. the thing is, with sponsors (marlen esparza has
covergirl, nike, coca cola, mcdonalds and others) competing in the olympics probably
is a better option than pros for a lot of women. soda and mcdonalds will kill you
on the scale, though, so i highly doubt she is actually consuming these products.

i think i'd rather watch marlen fight than most male pro flyweights
some of the decisions i have seen in womens boxing are worse than you normally get
in men's and also worse mismatches than men's and that makes it harder to watch, also.

Anabel Ortiz has an interesting journey to Japan to face a former female amateur standout.

Holly Holm probably considered the risk/reward was better going for Rousey than Braekhus. I was bitter about it earlier, but now I realize there are several great women boxers in the world :P

29.04 Anabel Ortiz 16-3, is fighting Nana Yoshikawa who is only 4-0, but if she has a solid amateur career it will probably be a better scrap than the records indicates.

Several big fights this week, In France friday 27th, is Anne Sophie Mathis, KO Queen of women boxing, taking on Oxandia Castillo, who also carries huge power. This fight will not go all rounds. I favor late ko for Mathis because she has more experience.
They have one similar opponent, p4p best in the world Cecilia Braekhus. While Mathis lasted 10 rounds and gave Braekhus her hardest fight, Castillo was stopped in the 9th round. But it was still Braekhus second hardest fight in my opinion. Referee got a little eager stopping that fight, could probably have lasted the full 10 rounds. But Castillo opened up too much and took a little to much punishment.

And of course in Mexico Saturday 28th, fan favorite Jackie Nava 31-4-3, is defending her WBA and WBC belts against Mayra A. Gomez 16-3. Nava is favorite is this fight.

And something that should wake the patriotism in every American. Melissa McMorrow 9-5-3, a tough road warrior is having a crack at the WBO belt belonging to Kenia Enriquez 13-0.
Unlike most boxers Kenia went from Mexico to USA to get fight and has built a very good record fighting in California. While Melissa, native American, has suffered from being thrown to the wolfs from the very start of her career is still a huge challenge and Kenias biggest fight to date.

melissa has been ripped off by judges in mexico more than thrown to any wolves recently,
and baja (=lower) california is in mexico. when you cross the border from san diego to
tijuana you are in baja, going down to cabo. i honestly think when marlen turns pro next
year in that division after rio, especially if she gets gold or silver, you will see more americans
watching women's boxing, and definitely more americans watching women flyweight pros
than men flyweights. obviously leila ali was an attraction in great part because of her name,
and christie martin and the early women boxers were more of a novelty. this generation we
have the first women boxers becoming famous solely because they are skilled boxers, and
i think this next olympics will probably be the platform to market geniune female boxers
entering the pro ranks and that flyweight division will have crossover appeal.

You are absolutely right, McMorrow has had some unfair decisions against her. But with the comp she has fought during only 17 fights qualifies in my book as thrown to the wolfs :P

Kenia had her first 9 fights in Mexico, then she had 4 fights in San Diego, and those have been the fights which has gotten her on the map. She has proven you can be up and coming female boxer nowadays in America. Now she returns to Mexico for her biggest fight, obviously because the condition for such a huge fight is better in Mexico. Kenia has also started a female amateur tournament in her hometown, it was a big success.

I have been somewhat curious about women's boxing.
I rarely see any fights covered anywhere. Except for back when Laila Ali and Christy Martin were around.

Here's a few questions for you 1LadyB:
-What's the state of the female heavyweight division?
-Are there more knockouts in the upper weight classes, as in male boxing?
-Who do you consider the All Time P4P female fighter?

The state of female heavyweight division is bad, really bad! No denying that.
When Laila Ali, Anne Wolfe, Natasha Ragosina was fighting the heavier weight classes was wastly more avtice. Now the lower weights are taking completely over.

I dont really know if there are more knockouts in the higher weightclasses, but I doubt it. Its generally low compared to male boxing. But the build up of excitement, who will win, what will happen, especially when your a fan of a specific boxer, is the same!

Again, given my user name, there is really no question who I consider to be All Time P4P women boxer! Cecilia Braekhus is continuously fighting top fighters every time. She has been considered by most of those who follow women boxing the best, since her win against KO artist Anne Sophie Mathis. With the win, she took the crown from Holly Holm who is 1-1 against Mathis. A rematch between Braekhus and Mathis will most likely happen some time in the future.

Just glancing at the BoxRec female rankings, I noticed that there are some fighters with pretty high KO%, and others with very low.
But yeah that's cool that there are good matchups, talented and skilled boxers too.
Too bad it's not very big over here in the US. Maybe it will be some day?

looks like holm will not be coming back to boxing to face braekhus anytime soon.
the 1st round vs rousey was really all boxing, too. rousey still looked groggy
from getting so badly outboxed she was open for the kick at the start of the 2nd.
the one benefit of this is that rousey might shut the hell up about floyd and boxing
for a while while she licks her wounds.
