He can but he probably won't. Floyd's single-shot defensive mentality makes it hard for him to get stoppages. He would have to really hurt Pacquiao with something to the point that he felt Pacquiao was no threat at all to get the stoppage.

I actually think he will stop Pacquiao via TKO. Floyd will make a statement, and there will be no rematch. Pac is too easy to hit. Unless Floyd hurts his hand on Pac's big noggin, he will stop him. He will not only fire stinging lead rights all night, he will go to the body on Pac which most don't try much, and Pac is vulnerable there. Floyd wins by TKO 10th round. :TU:

I don't think Floyd hits hard enough in single shots or cumulative, so no IMO.

In the last 9 years, Mayweather has scored 2 entire stoppages, and one was his cheap shot extravaganza against Victor Ortiz. So no, Mayweather can't get the TKO.

I doubt he will, but if he does -- time for Manny to quit fighting. I say he'll hurt Manny a little in the middle rounds, especially if things heat up in their exchanges.

That being said, it will be a stinker of a fight IMHO.

Absent some fluke picture perfect hook counter a la Marquez, Floyd will fight way too defensive minded to get any sort of stoppage.

I wouldn't bet on it.

Mayweather's style doesn't lend itself to knockouts.

I honestly can't see this fight being competitive beyond 5 or 6 rounds. We might even see Manny do a "No Mas" to end it, or Roach throw in the towel. People will scream fix because the last half will be so one sided.

I'm not saying that to get the Pac fans riled up. Manny has trouble with counter-punchers like JMM, but now he will be in with one with more reach and speed, and better defense. If you think Floyd can't handle soutpaws, re-watch the Guerrero fight. Floyd can throw combinations if he has to, along with a lot of other things. Pac will find out his power is way under-rated too. No way he loses this fight. Pac looked good with the taller Algeiri, but lets be honest - Algeiri is an amateur basically, came right into boxing from kickboxing.

Back in 2010, Pac picked Mosley to beat Floyd. He said Defense can't win fights, and Mosley relies on speed and throwing a lot of punches, so he will win. People forget Floyd has offense too. Just remember, everyone that has bet against Floyd has lost money. Don't bet the farm.

So is Maidana, Judah, and Guerrero who are levels below Pacquiao yet Floyd didn't stop them.

People think Pacquiao is just as open as Ricky Hatton and will be surprised when he isn't.

Maidana is bigger than Manny and has a proven beard and so is and does Guerrero, Judah had to foul to keep from getting stop as I remember it----he was definitely on his way out.

Personally I agree with Badhusker; Manny isn't hard to hit at all, Floyd is faster than him, more accurate and punches harder than him according to Shane Mosley so I'm not so sure why people are being so dismissive of his ability to stop an opponent.

Not one person said that Floyd would one punch/one hitter quitter Pacquiao but it can be done through cumulative shots especially to the body where Manny is not known to be able to take shots well there.

I'm looking for a late stoppage by Floyd as I believe the corner will throw in the towel around the middle of the 11th.

In the last 15 years;

Maidana
Maidana
Alvarez
Guerrero
Cotto
Mosley
Marquez
Oscar DeLaHoya
Baldomir
Zab Judah
Corley
Sosa
Castillo
Castillo
Hernandez
Vargas

There's a list of fighters Floyd never looked like stopping, in fact, barely even left a mark on. Yet some people think he might stop a fighter like Manny Pacquiao

Didn't George Foreman once say the only guy Floyd ever hurt was his own hand?

Mosley must have amnesia then.

He's never to my knowledge said Mayweather punches harder. The only thing he did say was that Mayweather and Canelo's punching power is similar.

For all we know, Canelo's punching power could be overrated as Angulo is the only true 154lber he ever stopped

Last fighter he stopped in years came via sucker punch. I'd be extremely surprised if Floyd scores a KO. But then again, anything can happen in this sport.

Its boxing bruh. This fight could end with a guy falling into the ring with a self made single man capacity sketchy looking fan propelled helicopter sorta device. Of course it could end up being stoppage.

I think the likeliness isn't on that for either guy though. When top guys meet like this most of the time they go the full 12 rounds. Floyd is strongly a 12 round fighter. Manny has been shaky with finishing guys the last several years thus he's kinda a 12 round fighter thru that change in his career. Therefore I kinda feel like the chances for a 12 round decision are even higher than normal here, but sh!t man anything can always happen, thats why we watch.

Floyd is more than capable of stopping Pacquiao. Floyd isn't the biggest puncher, but he has plenty enough pop his shots to hurt his opponent when he sits down on his shots. Floyd is normally defensive minded and doesn't look for a big punch, he looks to land scoring shots. This is the type of fight, if Floyd sees an opening (which there will be a lot of them) he's going to sit down on his shots, especially later in the fight. Floyd more than likely wins by UD, but I wouldn't be all that surprised if Floyd stopped Manny.

The only thing certain about this fight is it will end in a decision. Manny is too small to really hurt a defensive wizard like Floyd, and Floyd isnt knocking out Manny throwing single shots. Floyd punches to score, not to inflict serious damage. It's just not his M.O. His ego is so immense he is safety first, second and third - he is petrified of losing and know the only way it would likely happen is to get sloppy and dropped/knocked out. Even if he hurt Manny with a punch he wouldnt go balls out to follow it up. He never does - because he's smart enough to know the only way he can get hurt badly is on a counter-punch from being overly aggressive.
