Gerald Washington v Jason Gavern

Post by Gnome »

Happens on 13th March.

Gavern seems to be slightly more ambitious these days than in previous years but taking on this fight at what seems like short notice seems to fall into a pattern between 2011-2013 when he fought unbeaten prospects (think Wach, Browne, Ustinov, Larsen, Mansour) and inevitably got knocked out fairly early. He lost against the Chinese boxer Zhang Junlong last time out.

Washington had a tough time against Nagy Aguilera but otherwise knocks out opponents early.

Thoughts about this bout?

Gavern was a decent gatekeeper 4 years ago but now he's simply another journeyman. Washington had more than a tough time vs Aguilera (I thought he lost) but Nady is a real puncher; Gavern is not.

Bayloric tv did a good interview of Gavern on youtube.
He admitted that Prizefighter was his best memory as a fighter. He also said that he was now looking for bouts to pay the bills.
