Wlad V Fury In England

Post by danamba7 »

Mick, Tyson and Frank have all suggested this is a viable option after talking to Klitchko's team but surely this fight wont happen in the UK!? If it did, would it go down as one of the best bits of promoting in British boxing history to get the undisputed HW champ to travel to defend his 3 belts?

If Frank/Mick pull that off some of the haters would certainly have to eat their words! Hope it happens

Believe that when I see it.

It would be an impressive coup but i don't think anyone who regularly pulls a certain promoter up on his failings would really need to eat their words.

I'd be keen to go if it ever did come off

Klitschko probably saw the Froch-Groves rematch at Wembley, and Fury-Klitschko would be a stadium fight, so it could happen. There is money to be made, so maybe Wladimir could be tempted over? Would be great if that is the case.

Not sure why Wlad would do it when he could get exactly the same crowd for a stadium fight in germany only he would have more fans cheering for him. No reason for him to give up home advantage.

In an ideal world I would rather see The winner of Wilder-Fury fight Wlad.

The Haye fight was far from a sell out. This does better numbers here.

He knows that this fight is an easy win that's why, gets the kudos of coming into the lions den, taking out fury in style, makes a shitload of cash and jumps on the plane home laughing.

This fight is a lot harder on paper than the majority of Wlad's fights.

I'd rather it was in Germany. They'll put on a much better show than Fwank would.

Wlad knows the UK is a better route to the big time in America than carrying on fighting in Germany.

He has got his fight vs Jennings at the Garden on HBO in April, however, the Wilder etc fight is a lot bigger. If I was his adviser then I would encourage him to travel and get some serious $$$ in an Old Trafford fight this summer vs Fury.

All it requires is some clever negotiation regarding rematches, officials, ticket %, new subscription % etc

This will be a blackeye for boxing of Haye/Harrison proportions. Fury isn't ready, and simply never will be ready, for a big, dangerous, world class puncher. An abbreviated, one-round version of the Klitschko/Pulev farce.

It would be the best bit of promotional business since FW brought over Tyszu. The undisputed heavyweight champion over here in Septemober in London as Warrren suggests would be a massive, massive event.

My logic is if he didn't come over for Haye in a unification fight, someone who is a considerably bigger name than Tyson Fury, then he won't come over.

Tyson fury is the biggest name in British boxing most people have heard of him to be fair.

Tuan_Jim...You are one of my favorite posters. But this is one time I
firmly disagree with you.I honestly believe Fury will be Wlad's toughest
opponent in years.
Fury is far from a hype job.He will give Wlad a challenge and no way will
Wlad risk going for a quick KO.Wlad will hug worse then Ruiz ever did.
Expect a 12 round decision.

I doubt Wlad would even bother, looking at some of the officiating in GB in recent times.

You have fine taste in posters! I have no doubt Fury will come to play - which straight away distinguishes him from most Wladimir challengers - but I can't help but feel his chin will let him down the moment it's hit, and I would be surprised if that moment didn't come quickly.

For me, personal opinion of course, fighting in the UK is a better route to the US than fighting in Germany. There are better affiliations with TV deals, promotional outfits and the media as a whole compared to Germany. Golovkin is the most recent example for me, he fights in Monte Carlo (Channel 5 and SKY, UK TV) and America, rather than the traditional mould for eastern european fighters.

By show I take it you mean a bit of a live band when VK steps to the ring and perhaps some hologram type business? Because you can't be referring to any Klit undercard in Germany, as they are generally terrible.

Say one thing for FW, it would be "stacked" card time.

He was willing to fight Haye at Stamford Bridge, then Haye didn't like the amount it would cost to police the event and decided he'd be better off in Germany. The big difference is that Fury has financial backing behind him from Warren/Ives, Haye was more or less trying to do it on his own.

I'm not convinced fury v wlad would sell well here. Fury as much as I like him isn't a big ticket seller.

Haye-Fury sold out. Haye-Charr really struggled before getting pulled. Against Wlad, Tyson will sell.
