Against who is Floyd's last fight going to be?
finaly the big one is on. but after that 1 fight is left on his contract and than seems the end of fm career, since he said that 2015 will be the end.
me personly I think it will be pacquiao rematch, no matter if floyd wins or losses. because round about 3 million + ppv buys and around 120 million + to be made in 1 fight, than you do it again. unless floyd easily dominates him for 12, but that wont happen.

Re: Against who is Floyd's last fight going to be?
After he thoroughly dominates Manny people will not be interested in seeing a rematch which is why there isn't one in the clause unless Mayweather loses by KO, but I personally think he will go after Cotto after he smacks the crap out of Khan (strictly a big money fight for him) because he wants that MW strap to cement his legacy and many people thought Miguel won the first fight so they wouldn't mind seeing a rematch.Chepppaaa wrote:finaly the big one is on. but after that 1 fight is left on his contract and than seems the end of fm career, since he said that 2015 will be the end.

Re: Against who is Floyd's last fight going to be?
He wants to finish his career with a win, so he'll pick a easy one. Maybe Broner or Rabchenko?
Re: Against who is Floyd's last fight going to be?
Win or lose, 49 will be a rematch vs Cotto or Canelo (or Manny if Floyd loses).
Assuming he still has his "0", 50 is an easy fight, a cakewalk.
It will be Floyd's coronation, after all.
No way does he take a tough fight to get to the magic number...and by then he will have earned an easy one anyway.

Re: Against who is Floyd's last fight going to be?
My guess will be Garcia. He is unbeaten, KO'd Khan, and on paper at least seems like not too risky of a fight.
My second guess will be for Floyd to retire. Why not go out on top.
My third guess will be a 2nd fight with Pac. Hell could freeze over and Pac could win.

Probably vs Errol Spence in 2018, 2019 or some sh!t like that. Respect to Floyd if he can retire this year or after a 50th fight next year, but my money will always be on a fighter to keep fighting or even if he retires when he says to come back "one more time" at a later day.

I can’t see Floyd engaging in a rematch against Canelo, after their one-sided fight, so that just leaves Pacquiao, Cotto and Khan as prospective opponents.
Personally-speaking, I’d be surprised if Floyd didn’t decide to have two more fights, with his final bout held on Cinco de Mayo weekend of 2016, when he attempts to surpass Rocky Marciano’s 49-0 record, but hey… what do I know?
like khan is much more known than thurman and brook in the us.
barely every ppv fight makes solid ppv numbers when floyd is involved. its more about, is it a good fight. and guys like thurman, brook are certainly much better than ortiz or guerrero.
and canelo and cotto got already beat.
lara, catch weight ggg all @154, pacquiao 2, thurman or brook. one of those would be great.
its so funny when people misunderstand popularity with actual quality. people talk about khan or cotto as potential opponents for floyd, because they are popular. when somebody like lara supasses them technicly by far, much better boxer, but 0 popular.
this reminds me of one funny thing when people who know nothing about football started thinking david beckham was the best footballer in the whole world, because he was the most popular. when guys like shewchenko or falcao were twice as good as beckham, but by far not as popular as him.
Re: Against who is Floyd's last fight going to be?
I sure hope Khan gets the chance to prove his haters wrong. #ifyouknowyouknow
Re: Against who is Floyd's last fight going to be?
We came up with all these threads before the fight was announce for the last 6-7 years. We already know what is the opinion of pretty much everyone on the forum, on EVERY aspect of both fighter s life.
Can we just clean out current scene and have a topic Mayweather-Pacquiao like for every other fight and all discuss in there.

im guessing after Floyd loses on May 2nd, he'll go into a deep depression and fits of rage and anger, getting himself arrested and then locked up for some crazy shit.

Whilst Khan isn’t as popular in the US in comparison to the likes of Miguel Cotto, UK PPV revenue and global television rights would more than compensate for any shortfall.
Put it this way, Khan’s fight against Paul McCloskey attracted 300K UK PPV (SKY Box Office) buys. The Cotto-Martinez fight only attracted 350K PPV buys.
America can no longer be regarded as the Mecca of boxing. So don’t assume that a fight cannot be commercially viable based on assumptions of US popularity alone.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a “PRIZE” fighter, not a “PRIDE” fighter, which means that he’s likely to pick opponents based on the person that maximises his payday.
The thing people fail to realize or comment on is that when Floyd picks a fighter, in order to get the maximum $ he always fights guys that are at the top of their game and ranked high, not guys coming off losses or rusty.

ohh respect, the p4p king takes opponents who didnt lost the last fight they had, now thats something
usa is the mecca of boxing
floyd is not prize fighter, he is a minimal risk fighter. if he was a prize fighter only thinking about money, than he would have gave oscar a rematch, he would have fought pacquiao in 2009 and regardless of the outcome have a rematch or even a triology with pac. also, he would have switch his attitude to a more quiet reasonable character and make deals with nike, pepsi, mcdonalds and make as much commercial money as huge nba or nfl superstars do
khan does not play factor. nobody knows him in the us. as far as tv rights go elsewere. it does not make a huge difference, as the example of mayweather-hatton, were basicly all the money was made via contract and us ppv money for floyd.

I think Pac will likely be his last fight. He's 38 years old now and this mega event will make him more money than any other previous match. Win or lose I don't see him chasing down anyone else.

Unless he is intent on surpassing Marciano's stuck in time '49-0', then I see little point in him carrying on if he beats Pacquiao.
If he loses, draws, or wins controversially, there will be the inevitable rematch, although they'll both be in their 70s by the time the negotiations are concluded for that.

Re: Against who is Floyd's last fight going to be?
Isn't Khan under a GBP contract? If Khan still has ties to Oscar. I can not see it happening. There is that 300 million dollar lawsuit with Haymon.fergusg wrote:Keith Thurman is fighting Luis Collazo in July, which rules him out of contention as a potentional opponent for Floyd in September.
Therefore, I'm guessing that Amir Khan will be the next in line to face Mayweather, with Danny Garcia being a rather distant second choice fallback option.
I think Garcia is the leading candidate

Both Khan and Thurman are out because of their poor quality opponents. I said back before Khan fought Collazo he had not done crap in the last 4-5 years, and his best win was Ortiz, who quit on him. Freddie Hernandez tuned him up before that. They touted Collazo as a dangerous puncher, but didn't mention he has a less KO% than Khan does. Collazo has lost every big fight he has been in. In his best days he was decent, but seriously faded now. Now Thurman is fighting him (wtf?), and Khan is fighting a 140lber coming off a dominating ass kicking by Pac. Collazo is the only true welter Khan has fought, imo. The winner of Khan vs Thurman should fight Floyd, but Haymon knows better I guess.
If history proves me right, Floyd will take on someone that has a recent big win vs a quality opponent. Khan and Thurman's opponents are laughable. So is Brook's. To me that leaves Garcia. Floyd already beat Cotto and Canelo decisively.
How about Paulie? Some may laugh, but he is good buds with Floyd. Be nice to see him get the payday before retiring.
Re: Against who is Floyd's last fight going to be?
A fight with PM will never happen. I'm not sure who Brook is fighting but if it isn't a top WW then it is a bust, I agree that Collazo is nothing at this stage and a pure waste for anyone and that Khan made a lot of mileage off of beating Collazo but he did beat Alexander (who Porter beat just the year before) so all of these guys have essentially ruled themselves out of a fight with Floyd.Badhusker wrote:fergusg wrote:Keith Thurman is fighting Luis Collazo in July, which rules him out of contention as a potentional opponent for Floyd in September.

The best option for Mayweather is Cotto at 160.

Im going a bit left field here in predicting Money fights in Vegas in Sept against the likes of Garcia
He then Finishes his career in May of 2016 in London, England packing out Wembley Stadium against Khan or Brook. Most probably Khan.

Floyd will never fight in London. It makes no financial sense. The tax rate would kill him. And he would not do the favor for KhanN2 Shape wrote:Im going a bit left field here in predicting Money fights in Vegas in Sept against the likes of Garcia
