TBOFAT vs. TBDFAT? how would you rate them?

Post by d_franco »

Ray Robinson is the best fighter of all time, he is the total package, but he is not the best offensive fighter of all time(TBOFAT) and hes not the best defensive fighter of all time(TBDFAT) either, Im just lucky to be alive seeing TBOFAT fighting TBDFAT this may 2, but if you dont agree with me then how would you rate the two?

of all time

These types of questions are always like asking a guy working the fryer at Burger King how they'd solve the national debt problem. Most people have lil knowledge about the all time greats (let alone their eras best competition) & even when they do its based on the very few black & white fights they've seen.

 :TU:
That is so true.I can say that Floyd is the best defensive fighter I have seen
in my old assed life.Followed by Whittaker.Again this is in my lifetime.

Best offensive fighter?Tougher to gauge. There have been some real good ones.
Top 10 for sure.Maybe top 5.But again that is in just the last 50 years.I can't make a
call on guys that I have little to know footage and only newspaper articles on.

I voted bUT really it's impossible to compare.

Example could you imagine willie pep or Benetez if they were to have the training technology and the supplements.....legal and illegal.

looks like people are rating both fighters based on their recent fights, remember that both are not in their prime anymore, if this fight was made 5 years ago then it would have the apt title.

during his prime, mayweather was untouchable, it was when he unretired that he seemed to slip a bit, i would rate him as the best defensive fighter of all time not based on his recent fights but all his achievements in the ring, the fight in may 2 would define his legacy if he wins convincingly

pacquiao is also not in his prime, and people tend to rate him based on this later version, remember the time when he was called merciless? the delahoya-hatton-cotto run was unprecedented, he was an offensive machine that even mayweather was afraid to face him because of suspicions of steroid use, it was during the margarito fight that pac became compassionate and lost his killer instinct

we are not talking about all time greatness, we are just discussing pure offensive greatness and pure defensive greatness, while majority agrees mayweather is the best defensive fighter, pac is just rated at top 10 best offensive fighters of all time
