Garcia Vs Peterson

Post by Batley18 »

I just had a look at the betting prices for the boxing this weekend, and have seen this fight already priced up:

Garcia 4/11 and Peterson 2/1.

I see this going a very similar way to Matthysee Vs Peterson, which is a one sided mauling. Danny will be motivated for this fight, and I can see the catchweight benefiting him more than Lamont.

Am I missing something here? I would have made Garcia about 1/6.

I think Lamont is a live dog here. Herrera already showed constant pressure can give Danny a lot of problems. If there is one thing I expect from Lamont its constant pressure. And I see Lamont as a much stronger opponent then Herrera with more power.

As far as betting here the thing I'd be most confident in is the over/under, but I haven't seen an over/under line yet. I wouldn't expect a KO here though I know that.

Why isn't this a unification fight anymore?

It'll be at 143lbs. They'd been talk going back n forth on it being a abc 140lb fight & a 143lb fight for awhile. I don't believe it was ever officially one or the other til recently.

:TU: I assumed this was being billed as a unification fight, they hold 3 140lbs titles between them,I can't understand this 143 scenario

Why does or matter? Belts mean nothing now a days thanks to the sanctioning organization. Boxing had been around a lot longer than there organizations and will be around after they're gone. This is a good fighter with our without titles being on the line.

thats one argument, but another is it takes away the chance for someone else fighting for the title when these 2 tie up the belts without defending them

Part of me wants to say Swift gets him out of there. The other part remembers how much trouble Swift had with Herrera and how Peterson is definitely a step above Mauricio.

Could be a tough fight for Danny.

Because if someone holds 3 of the titles we're a step closer to having an undisputed or a clear No1,Catchweights are ruining boxing, fighters and managers trying to gain an unfair advantage ,it makes a mockery of weight divisions, nowadays we have fighters winning and defending belts despite no being in the weight class

Its usually the challenger of all people who demand a CW,if you can't get down to weight or are too small to move up then you shouldn't be fighting for a world title in that particular weight class,I'm sure if Mayweather beats Pacquiao then he'll demand Cotto moves down to a CW so Floyd can take his WBC MW title thus becoming a 6 weight titlist

For instance Kovalev beating Hopkins was great because that means we have all 4 belts tied to the top 2,hopefully forcing a unification between Kovalev and Stevenson, therefor we might actually get to see an undisputed champion

I'd say the abc belts make more of a "mockery" of the sport or are "ruining" the sport than anything else. Funny you seem to be blaming fighters who didn't take things from 8 divisions to 17 or take the titles from 1 to 4+. How do the fighters got anything to do with all this stupidity they now gotta contend with? Don't hate the player, hate the game as they say. Fighters are living in the environment all the big power brokers of the sport created.

And lol at holding all those titles. Wlad gots a bunch of them & he seems like a sell out to the abc orgs to me cuz he always gots to fight a bs guy or two a year to keep up with bs mandatory fights. F#ck all the abc belts.

Idgaf about who holds what belts, I just want to see good fights and these ABC organizations don't create good fights because of their belts. We don't need belts in order to know who the best fighters are and what fights we want to see. Matthysse/Provodkinov is a great fight and it's not for a belt (idk maybe one of them has a belt?). Ward/Gatti wasn't for a belt. The ABC's don't make fights happen. They've overstayed their welcome in boxing. They only want money. If it were up to the ABC's they would give Floyd the heavyweight titles because he generates them the most money.

Regardless of your thought on the validity of the ABC titles. What is actually happening with these belts?

They hold 3 titles between them and Garcia is now going into his second consecutive catchweight, non-title bout. Surely they need to be vacated.

I mean it seem obvious to me Danny has no intention of dropping back down to LWW and as soon as the right fight comes up at 147lb he's gone

But nobody cares. People will tone into the fight Saturday and when Garcia/Peterson fight to see a good fight. Belts being on the line makes no difference. Fighters won't fight any different. Belts being on the line doesn't add or take away from the fight. Only dinosaur fans care about worthless belts

I hate the ABC's too, especially when both guys like to be world champs without defending their belts and the orgs don't strip them, its funny how it's only US based fighters with financial clout who get away with it

Jamie McDonnell gets stripped of his title by the IBF after about 3 months yet Peterson has made about 1 defence in about 3 years, still it should be a good 10 rounds

TBH I think it will be a snoozer

I think Peterson will give Garcia a good fight here. 60/40 in favour of Garcia. If Danny isn't on his A game I see Lamont taking the decision.
