Robbie Turley v Anselmo Moreno
Robbie Turley v Anselmo Moreno
Just signed today apparently. Happening on the Kell Brook Sheffield show on 28th. Moreno coming up to Super-Bantam and prob sees Robbie as a stepping stone to Quigg or maybe even Frampton. Massive opportunity for Robbie. Anyone seen much of Moreno? I've only seen bits and bobs.

Re: Robbie Turley v Anselmo Moreno
He's a good fighter, probably similar ability to Abril,I thought he gave Mares a good fight although he clearly lost,he's skilled, great opportunity for Turley, remember Barrie Jones for robbed against M'Baye
Moreno's still a quality fighter but if he underestimate's Robbie then hopefully he's in great shape to grab a scalp

Re: Robbie Turley v Anselmo Moreno
Saw him get beat by Abner Mares not an amazing scrap but don't remember him being that bad.
Re: Robbie Turley v Anselmo Moreno
yeah that was the fight I saw too. Looked a little weak, physically to me in that one. But he was WBA champ (including super champ), made 11 defences, turned over Darchynian in a wide UD, so he must have something about him. He's only 29, so still young...
Re: Robbie Turley v Anselmo Moreno
Unless Moreno is nowhere near what he was, its a mismatch, world class fighter against area title level fighter. Looks like a backup plan if Frampton-Quigg doesn't come off to me, they'll put Quigg in with Moreno, fighting Turley keeps him fresh, no ring rust and a bit of UK exposure before a possible Quigg fight.

Re: Robbie Turley v Anselmo Moreno
Moreno hasn't looked great lately, but he has world class skills and is thus a couple levels above Turley. It would be a huge upset if Turley won and I don't think he's got a real chance, but he's probably getting some decent money compared to other fights he's had.

Re: Robbie Turley v Anselmo Moreno
Moreno has been a top Bantamweight for years, don't think he suited 122 for the Mares fight but the job he did on Vic at 118 was really impressive.
Talented, slippery, sharp but lacks power.

Re: Robbie Turley v Anselmo Moreno
Moreno is a top class fighter! Very slick but doesn't have massive power! I remember Turley putting up a pretty stubborn resistance to Frampton a few years back! Straight forward win for Carl but didn't get it all his own way! Good addition to the Sheffield card.
Re: Robbie Turley v Anselmo Moreno
He looks a bit like 'the cat' from Red Dwarf though.

Re: Robbie Turley v Anselmo Moreno
Guys Lets not forget when everyone wrote off Steve Robinson and Selby V Smith. Turley has just come off a totally class performance winning his British Title eliminator with a ten round whitewash. and a dazzling display of boxing. He has really improved.
Re: Robbie Turley v Anselmo Moreno
turley at his best can win this fight/don't write him off,put your money on a turley win!! hes a very tricky fighter,it's home soil plenty of notice and less then 12 rounds,he won't turn up to be the opponent,he's hungry and morelo may already be overlooking rob,rob turley only had short notice for the frampton fight and proved he can mix at a high level ,it's a big ask but no where near cut and dried, his sparring with lee selby and lee Haskins ( both world level) will be a big + for turley
Re: Robbie Turley v Anselmo Moreno
why not put him in with Jamie McDonnell
Re: Robbie Turley v Anselmo Moreno
This is an even bigger step than those, Robinson and Selby weren't going in with world class fighters and both are/were better than Turley. Wasn't that long ago that Moreno was floating around the bottom end of a few P4P lists.bolluckchops wrote:Guys Lets not forget when everyone wrote off Steve Robinson and Selby V Smith. This. Quigg-Moreno would look the plan. I'd not hold my breath for Frampton-Quigg though.expe wrote:Unless Moreno is nowhere near what he was, its a mismatch, world class fighter against area title level fighter. It looks as likely as it has done, but if they're going to put it on PPV, I'd rather it didn't happen, get it on ITV, Belfast, Dublin or London in the summer.Cholo_cws wrote:This.
