Andrade - Lara smack talk heats up
Providence, RI (March 3, 2015)--The following is a response to WBA Super Welterweight champion Erislandy Lara from Paul Andrade, the father/trainer of undefeated WBO Jr. Middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade:
Dear Mr. Erislandy Lara:
In response to your comments, whoever wrote your response should get their facts correct.
When we listen to you, we see the final triumph of stupidity in this world. You are the only boxer that successfully brainwashed himself with false facts.
We were never in our life offered a fight on ESPN 2 to fight you. In fact, when I met you in that restaurant in New York, we even said that Demetrius would let his career develop and fight you for much more meaningful amount than $15,000. When was the last time you fought for $15,000? And you agreed with me.
Now the time is here for us to get together but all you talk about is a meaningless fight in a foreign country that you by just four points when Demetrius was just 17 and you were 21. On top of that, you know when an American goes to a foreign country his opponent always gets an extra five points. We saw it at the Pan Am Games, in the Olympics and whenever we have fought on foreign soil.
After seeing Demetrius talent level, you decided going to the Olympics would have been a failed effort and decided to turn pro.
As we all know, many times guys who have been beaten by an individual in the amateurs come back and open up a can of whoop ass when they fight as professionals.
I see you posted your long list of accomplishments, we all are fighters in development when we start but you claim we have not fought anybody and you have.
The only opponent that we have in common is Vanes Martirosyan. We have the utmost respect for him and the best you can do was pull out a draw. I guess you were happy that headbutt occurred because Vanes was on his way to knocking you out. Then comes Angulo. The moment he trapped you, he dropped you twice and again then you escaped because of a lucky thumb that swelled up Angulo's eye. How many times will luck be on your side?
Now it is time for you to man up and take the challenge. Forget the cheap talk, do you want to get it on? Yes or No? A real man and a real champion would answer yes.
Sincerely,
Paul Andrade

Both of these guys are shit talkers. I hope if they fight each other they knock each other out.

Demetrius has been talking alot lately too. That Tha Boxing Voice interview he did during Boxcino had me about 80% sure he was high he was "yo momma-ing" so many people & throwing punches at imaginary people & just being generally nutty.ikorolev wrote:Lara fights best available opposition. Erislandy was boxing. The sport this forum is about is boxing. Erislandy came close to winning the boxing match as it was a split decision. If one judge had scored one more round for Erislandy instead of Saul it'd have been a draw, two rounds & Erislandy woulda won. Quit being silly.sucracristo wrote: is that what you call what he did vs canelo? because it didn't look like fighting
If you don't enjoy boxing you should watch other sports.

boxing involves trying to hit the other guy and not running like a track star.ReggieDiggs wrote:If you don't enjoy boxing you should watch other sports.

Re: Andrade - Lara smack talk heats up

You apparently don't know sh!t about track or boxing. Hate to break it to you, but there is a whole big ring boxers are allowed to box in. And the name of the game is hit & not get hit.sucracristo wrote:boxing involves trying to hit the other guy and not running like a track star.ReggieDiggs wrote:If you don't enjoy boxing you should watch other sports.

you going to start posting your gay gifs now? you sound upsetReggieDiggs wrote:You apparently don't know sh!t about track or boxing.
lara did use that whole ring. RUNNING!!!
he said he wanted to fight canelo. canelo was right there in a boxing ring with him
and the bell rang. canelo came to fight. lara RAN!! he didn't box. floyd boxed.
lara RAN!! the difference between boxing and running would be the hitting part

If you think thats running go watch toughman fights & leave boxing alone. Boxing is too technical for you.
Re: Andrade - Lara smack talk heats up
Yes, that was not the most exciting fight to watch, but only an idiot would stand in front of Canelo not being a better puncher than him. Do you expect Canelo to stand in front of Kirkland ? It wouldn't be a smart move, and I expect him to use a different plan.tiny_acres wrote:That is true but those punch stats sucked.97 Canelo - 107 Laraikorolev wrote:

Re: Andrade - Lara smack talk heats up
I thought the Lara fight proved just how good Mayweather was against Canelo.
Lara, who is bigger and supposedly hits harder, used the whole ring all night, was defense first at all times and generally avoided exchanges even when it was clear he landed good shots.
Floyd, by way of contrast, often came forward and generally kept things in the center of the ring.
Yet Canelo seemed to have much more success versus Lara than Floyd.

Re: Andrade - Lara smack talk heats up
Imo, Canelo won the fight on about 50 body shots, and doubt if he actually landed that many. Lara landed the only effective punches in the fight, but not many. Lara landed more total definitely. The fight was his if he just would have stayed busier, because Canelo couldn't hurt him. I think in the end he pissed the judges off, and lost...his own fault.
As far as the Andrade fight goes, I think it is a pick-em fight. Andrade is 4 inches taller, with probably a little more reach, not sure. Virgil Hunter claims Andrade has the better over-all skills. Lara is more proven, but I think Andrade will give him all he wants. Lara did beat Andrade 8 yrs ago as an amateur, and seems to think that still counts. Good fight that I hope gets made. Personally, I think both are better than Canelo or Cotto. (imo)
Andrade pulled out of the Charlo fight in December because of his wife having a baby I think, but did re-sign after the first of the year but then Charlo signed with Vanes M.

Re: Andrade - Lara smack talk heats up
Demetrius has said recently that the Charlo fight was smoke & mirrors & he never got any sort of contract concerning that fight. So it was never on to pull out of from his point of view. Tha Boxing Voice had about a 20min interview with him during Boxcino where he discussed it.Badhusker wrote: Andrade pulled out of the Charlo fight in December because of his wife having a baby I think, but did re-sign after the first of the year but then Charlo signed with Vanes M.

Interesting. I always wondered why that fight didn't happen, and didn't think it didn't happen because he was afraid to fight Charlo, like some thought. He is a good fight for anyone at 154 I think, and maybe the most under-rated guy at the weight right now.
Re: Andrade - Lara smack talk heats up
Smacktalk should never take the form of a written letter. Who the F can be arsed reading letters? ![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)

If Demetrius said something, it doesn't mean that that was true.Badhusker wrote:ReggieDiggs wrote:Demetrius has said recently that the Charlo fight was smoke & mirrors & he never got any sort of contract concerning that fight. Re: Andrade - Lara smack talk heats up
I have always been a Lara fan and not too big on Andrade. I mean, Demetrius hasn't done a lot in his young career. Not yet.
That being said, Lara cannot lose another fight or he is done for as a major titlist. Lara doesn't always show up for the big fights. Andrade is clearly on the rise being younger, undefeated, Olympic pedigree....so he can take a loss and it not mean as much as Lara losing. I see this as a 50/50 match

Re: Andrade - Lara smack talk heats up
Andrade/Lara would be a good fight. Andrade is very lanky and a good amateur pedigree to go with it. i would assume Lara would be the favorite but Lara looks good some nights and decent other nights. I can't get his fights with Molina and Angulo out of my head. Canelo isn't what people were saying he was a few yrs ago either.
Andrade is young and I'm sure he will be getting into a big fight shortly.

Re: Andrade - Lara smack talk heats up
I know what you mean. When you look at lets say the Trout fight, Lara looked much better. Maybe he does better against southpaws? The thing that sticks in my mind is that Hunter says Andrade has better over-all skills. He is probably the biggest 154 out there today, so it would be a good fight.hurricanemitch14 wrote:Andrade/Lara would be a good fight. Same goes for the other side of the story, but some knuckleheads never let facts get in the way of their ducking claims so I'm just throwing that info on Demetrius out there so cats can get a more well rounded look at the situation.ikorolev wrote: If Demetrius said something, it doesn't mean that that was true.
