Sprott VS Harrison II

I won a small fortune on the first fight in which Sprott KO'd Harrison. I put a fortune on Sprott to beat Harrison in the second fight. Think I had around 9/2 on the Sprott win. Audley 6 rounds down and using one arm going into the last. I was deciding what to spend my winnings on. Then boom, fight over. I felt phycially sick!

After his outstanding performance against Jones, in which he exceeded everyone's expectations, half of Cov turned out for this fight at the Connexion and Evatt got his jaw broke in the first round and didn't come out for the second.

Various rumours (and I must stress they were just rumours and never substantiated) were that he had got into an altercation in a pub the week before which may have been the true cause of the broken jaw.

Regardless, we all had a local fighter, who appeared to be the real deal, to get behind in what was becoming a good little boxing scene here and this loss just seemed to burst the bubble completely.

Definitely the Hatton losses as others have said.

Also Paul Smith getting knocked out of The Contender TV series without losing a fight due to a stupid new rule introduced for series 3. Absolutely heart-breaking

Munroe v Warrington - I'd been to some if his fights so seeing a fighter who was previously very good realise he just didn't have it any more was gutting

Seconded; I was choking up during Munroe's post fight interview.

Like some others I was truly gutted when Moore lost to Rhodes; after years of being in some terrific fights for the British and Commonwealth titles and trying to work his way into the world scene, he was finally on the cusp of a world title shot. He also used to post on here quite a bit and just seems like an all round top fella. Unfortunately I think his best days were behind him and looked a bit dead at the weight at LMW in retrospect. After his next fight he retired and I remember him saying even though the fight was almost 10lbs above LMW (163lbs) he still found it just as hard to get down in weight. For me that's a sign he had been drying out to 154lbs far too long though admittedly I'm no expert. Quality fighter who could box, fight on the inside and bang a bit. Far worse fighters than he have fought for a world title.

I was actually gutted when Mosley got the crap beaten out of him by Vernon Forrest. Mosley really sparked an interest in boxing and sort of made me into a hardcore fan with his brilliant skills and punching ability. At his best he really was dazzling and at the time he was up there in the p4p rankings and had the best KO record of any champions at the time (he was 38-0(35KOS)).

McGuigan losing to Steve Cruz and Herol Graham losing first time to Kalambay really crushed me,the foolishness of youth made me think neither could be beaten

@Big Jack....yup, Barry getting melted by the desert was horrible.

The wrong fight in the wrong place and at completely the wrong time, it was actually bloody dangerous and stupid.....Eastwood badly over-extended himself with that one and when you read Barry's book he's pretty clear that it was a bloody painful and totally avoidable beating. He kept on going because he did not think that Cruz was that good and might catch up with him and because he had immense pride as well....but a lot of lasting damage was done that day.

A couple of others that I hated watching as well....

Lloyd Honeyghan getting mauled by an 11-0 Adrian Dodson...Lloyd just fighting from memory on the undercard and getting outclassed.

Gary Mason being the first man with the right mindset and ability not to blink when stepping in with Lennox Lewis....but still taking a really prolonged and pretty one-sided hiding. I liked Gary a great deal and felt that he might upset the odds...but he got put through the ringer that night and Lennox inflicted alot of pain. He was still trying to throw punches and make things happen even with his eye clamped shut and a mile behind on points.

The worst for me was actually a draw, Lewis v Holyfield. My missus had treated me to the PPV, we had about 20 people around and it was a great night. Then they robbed him. I honestly nearly puked up. Was also gutted when Hatton lost his two biggies. Also I always really liked Fernando Vargas, I though he was gonna be an all time great, I think he was pushed to fast, but then again he got paid a fortune for the Trinidad ODH fights.
