I think that because of exactly WHO both fighters are, a win by Mayweather by stoppage is much more likely in this fight than anything else.

Floyd is a defensive genius who counterpunches with increasing devastation and severity as a fight goes on.

Manny is warrior with a huge heart who won't quit. And he is just good enough to know in his heart that he can hurt Mayweather and perhaps stop him if he can put together a combination.

That will keep Pacquiao coming at Floyd all night, even as he falls further and further behind on the scorecards.

And he will pay more and more until his corner or the referee have no choice but to stop it, or Floyd hits him with something that breaks him.

That being said, Floyd usually faces men weighing 15lbs or so heavier than himself come fight night.

In stark contrast, Manny Pacquiao typically enters the ring weighing between 149lbs-151lbs, which is about the same as Mayweather’s rehydration weight.

People like to cite Floyd’s lack of stoppage victories as evidence that he can’t punch, but his opponents never seem to criticise his punching power when they’ve been on the receiving end of one of his straight right hands.

Therefore, I feel that Floyd has a much better shot at forcing a stoppage than he may have done against his previous and much bigger opponents.

He didn't stop Marquez neither who is similar in size to Pacquiao. Whether he could or couldn't is debatable but he didn't.

Neither did Pacquiao, whether he could is debatable but he certainly proved he was unable in 4 fights before getting pancaked himself.

Here are some facts:
• Juan Manuel Marquez has never been stopped… EVER!
• Dinamita is a speculative counter-puncher with good defensive skills and a solid chin
• Listen to the commentary and re-watch the Mayweather-Marquez fight and judge for yourself whether Floyd had the ability to force a stoppage
• Juan Manuel Marquez has a completely different style than Manny Pacquiao’s
• Dinamita floored Pacquiao en route to knocking him out cold in six rounds

I’m not saying you’re wrong… that’s for other people to judge, but surely even you must be disappointed about the amount of redundancy in your statement! :KO:

1. Algeri, Rios, Bradley, Mosley at the time, and Clottey have never been stopped neither. So why hold that against Pacquiao having power?

2. While Marquez hasn't been stopped, he can be hurt by anyone. Juan Diaz and Barrera hurt Marquez also.

Can't imagine anyone seriously believing that Mayweather will stop Pacquiao.
Even if his power is somewhat better than his KO record suggests, Mayweather doesn't have the mentality to go for the stoppage.

He throws 1-2 combinations and moves away. Even if Mayweather stuns an opponent, he makes no attempt to capitalize.
He's a safety first fighter by nature---not a guy prone to taking chances. He's there to win, not to knock out.

Mayweather won't change his spots just because this is the Fight of the Generation.
He'll play it safe, pile up the points and cruise to a convincing decision.

I wouldn't bet on it happening, but if you insist, oddsmakers will give you +550 for a Mayweather KO victory. They offer the same odds on Pacquiao (the supposed power puncher) winning by stoppage.
The fight going the route is a safe bet.

The reason why Floyd doesn't want to deal with Bob Arum is the fact that he wanted to talk to Manny personally to "stage" the fight. Mark, this fight is fixed. Floyd is so sure to win this fight that even 50 cent is betting $1.6 million on Floyd to beat Manny. Manny has a huge tax obligation back home amounting to more than a billion peso and the only way he could pay it is to fight Floyd. Floyd knows this and took advantage of it.

The only way Pacquiao defeats Floyd is to bum rush and pepper him with punches. But Manny's not going to do that. Come fight night, both fighters will dance to Floyd's choreography - and throw punches just enough to fool the paying public into thinking that the fight was close or exciting enough to merit a rematch.

Manny's chances of beating Floyd is zero because he has now put his greed for money, fame and power above glory. Boxing has given him so much but in return he turned his back on it(by indulging in politics, showbiz, etc). That's why the gods of boxing punished him with that knockout against Marquez.

No matter how many dream about Manny beating Floyd, reality is that, it's all written in stone - Floyd will beat Pacquiao on May 2nd - and that's coming from a staunch, diehard, Filipino Pacquiao fan.

I'll take a crack at guessing...

From Pac being KTFO 3 times prior by guys smaller, slower, and less powerful than Mayweather?

But, that's just me...
