Re: Amnat Ruenroeng vs Zou Shiming
I think ruenroeng is the better pro and will win a close fight on pointsverballistic wrote:Should be a close fight that could go either way, so Zou could become the 2nd 2012 Olympian to win a world title as a pro. With Shiming pushing 34 it's good to see him going for a world title early as a pro.
Ruenroeng struggled with Arroyo on his home turf but did well on Japanese soil vs Ioka. So even though home turf advantage may not matter a whole lot, I'll pick Zou by close decision.
Re: Amnat Ruenroeng vs Zou Shiming
I think a lot of money is being sunk into Shiming's career and that a loss would derail a lot of momentum for Chinese boxing. I'm a huge fan of Thai boxers so will be rooting for Amnat to win... hope that the judges will turn in a fine and fair performance just as much as the boxers do
Re: Amnat Ruenroeng vs Zou Shiming
Ruenroeng strikes me as the better pro but I think Shiming will win. I won't be surprised if it's a snoozer.
Re: Amnat Ruenroeng vs Zou Shiming
Zou has insane natural athletic talent... but in the pro boxing game, if you can't sting, then things can get complicated even vs much cruder fighters.
Amnat has good in and out of the pocket movement backed up by a good quick straight punch arsenal... That won't let Zou exploit his combo fluidity at closer range and do his shoe shine thing. Should be a tough fight for Zou... look forward to see the cards

Ruenroeng wins 116-111 x3, which is the score I had too.
Fair judging (which surprises me) and well deserved win by AR. The last two days have seen a pair of very good boxing displays by champions who successfully defended their titles abroad.

Agree. They might got the death penalty for fixing fights in China lol.crusader wrote:Ruenroeng wins 116-111 x3, which is the score I had too.

I am shocked as hell Shiming didn't get the decision. I had it 114-113 Ruenrong and just assumed they'd give it to Shiming.

I knew Ruenroeng could give Shiming all he could handle, but never expected the Chinese hero to drop a decision in Macau.

Re: Amnat Ruenroeng vs Zou Shiming
Ruenroeng's right hand and left hook got Shiming's attention as he took advantage of Zou's slow start and won the opening round.
In the 2nd Shiming was credited with a knockdown at the end of a short exchange, it looked like a wild left hook from Zou mixed with Ruenroeng being off balance.
Shiming ended the round well to win it, I sensed a healthy professional appetite from both fighters which probably stems from their bouts in the amateurs.
Zou used as much of the ring that he needed and Ruenroeng was remaining fairly stationary as Ruenroeng won the 3rd with crisper more accurate punches.
At times it was standoffish throughout the opening 3 rounds but exciting to watch each boxer wait for the other to lead so they could counter, it was sometimes a question of who would blink first.
That might sound boring to the mainstream fans but one the hard core can appreciate because down at those lighter weights they're so quick that any mistake can be jumped upon rapidly.
Both fighters threw some wild swinging blows during the first half of round 4 in a technical round which Ruenroeng looked to have won if only by a punch or two.
Shiming didn't land many punches during the 5th round other than a left hook right hand combination, Ruenroeng picked him off from time to time with jabs and right hands to go even further ahead.
Shiming pressured Ruenroeng throughout the 6th round but didn't get many shots off and the same could be said for Ruenroeng, close round which could have gone either way.
The right hook landed for Zou as Ruenroeng worked continuously behind his jab during the 7th, a couple of right hands from Ruenroeng landed late in another tight round which I gave to Shiming.
Although Ruenroeng had been using his jab it wasn't until the 8th that I noticed it was posing Shiming more problems than I initially thought, it's a quick snappy accurate weapon that was forcing Shiming to employ a wilder more risky approach because he was having difficulty slipping it and Ruenroeng took the round because of it.
Shiming was pressuring Ruenroeng in the 9th but the intensity and shortage of actual punches landed eluded Zou, Ruenroeng didn't land much in return and I found myself giving the round to Shiming.
Scrappy start to the 10th and only a Ruenroeng right hand and right uppercut divided them, Shiming tried to mix it up with Ruenroeng but most of the time Ruenroeng was jabbing and gone by the time Zou tried to get closer, Ruenroeng edged the round.
You could feel the sense of urgency from Shiming as he began the 11th round with wild swings trying to catch Ruenroeng napping, but a straight right and consecutive jabs put Ruenroeng back in control, Shiming soldiered forward and walked onto a glancing right uppercut during the 2nd half of the round and lost the 11th, for the last few rounds Zou was in a fight he couldn't win on the cards and only some type of stoppage was necessary.
Shiming pushed on in the 12th as Ruenroeng seemed content to run out the clock on the back foot, Shiming took the final round.
It was an interesting fight and both fighters will come out of it looking ok, the bottom line was Ruenroeng was the better boxer but I could see these two boxing each other a number of times and the result being reversed on each occasion, it was very well matched.
