Broner is not that great....
Re: Broner is not that great....
I think Broner is pretty good but just not big enough for 147. 140 should be his permanent weight

Broner doesn't look strong at 140 either.......really needs to stay away from 147 tho. Molina is very ordinary if u don't stand in front and brawl with him.

Broner is a very gifted athlete and has incredible reflexes.... to a point. He shows flashes of greatness, but it is all taken away when he gets scraped by right hands consistently.

Re: Broner is not that great....
yep Thurman would smoke Broner. Guerrero would punish Broner too.
Re: Broner is not that great....
Good match up on paper but it didn't quite turn out to be the potential barnburner it could have been.
If there's any blame it clearly deserves to be levelled at John Molina not Adrien Broner.
Adrien Broner came to fight and was in front of Molina for almost the entire fight and initiated most if not the vast majority of exchanges.
Molina stood there motionless not so much as throwing a jab to open up any kind of attack and at times and spent a lot of the bout inactive and unproductive.
Broners jab was constantly in Molina's face from round 1 and there was very little fire in the belly of Molina all night, from time to time Molina would throw and occasionally land his wild overhand right but that's all he brought with him and much of the time the punch ended up in row 8.
Afterwards Molina complained that Broner didn't back up his stand and trade pre fight talk, I don't get it man is Adrien Broner meant to fight how Molina wants him to, what a ridiculous comment to make but it was an in the ring post fight interview so I'll let it slide but I think you know what I mean.
I say Adrien Broner came out of it looking ok but not great due to Molina's reluctance to take any chances and had to settle for a relatively safety first approach, but Broner did try to pry open Molina and at one point was even out landing him 4 to 1.
Broner moves on but Molina may have a harder time getting on a card like this after such a lacklustre performance in what was a high profile event going out coast to coast on a regular tv channel and not a limited viewer ppv, it didn't look good for Molina.

Re: Broner is not that great....
U gotta match Molina carefully, he'll be fun to watch when he gets guys like Mattyse or a Provo....even if he gets stopped. boxers make him look silly, unless he lands a bomb.
Re: Broner is not that great....
I knew that coming in but I thought Molina knowing who he has in front of him would modify his game plan somewhat.hurricanemitch14 wrote:U gotta match Molina carefully, he'll be fun to watch when he gets guys like Mattyse or a Provo....even if he gets stopped. boxers make him look silly, unless he lands a bomb.
That said there's no excuse for his lack of effort and inability to merely put some punches out there, at times he just stood there doing nothing.
Molina can hit but this is the big leagues and unless you bring a little more than that you might as well not show up because it doesn't just hurt his career it hurts Broner's and the audience watching were pissed off and rightly so due to his lack of effort.

Re: Broner is not that great....
yea I know what ur saying.......I think he's so friggin slow, that he can't get his punches off.....hell who knows really.
Re: Broner is not that great....
I don't mean to dog Molina so much but this was a high profile card and Molina should know better.
Sometimes it doesn't matter if you lose its how you lose.
I mean at least one judge had Keith Thurman scoring a 12-0 shut out of Guerrero, but I'll push all the chips into the centre of the table on one roll of the dice and assure you that Robert Guerrero's phone will be ringing off the hook come Monday morning and Molina will be lucky to get a postcard.

Re: Broner is not that great....
Molina has had a tough yr too.....he took a hell of a beating by Mattyse then got beat around by Humberto Soto then fights Broner. He proly needs to take a break and try and regroup. He's a very limited fighter tho when he's in ith top 10 dude and JW.
Re: Broner is not that great....
Agreed I'll say that he's been in tough, but perhaps they should have swerved this one if they knew he wasn't up to at least a worthy challenge.

Money baby!!!!
Re: Broner is not that great....
Yeah I know
Re: Broner is not that great....
Size has played a big part in both Broner's success and failures.
He was a beast down at SFW and LW and he struggled against a couple of naturally bigger opponents when he jumped up too quick to WW.
The weight factoring so heavily in both cases makes it difficult to pin down just how good he actually is.
He has ability, that's not in question, but he also has flaws in his game, one of the biggest was that he thought he had no flaws.
we'll learn just how good he is if he gets to face one of the top men in the division.
I'd particularly love to see him in with someone who can bang at 140lbs, someone like Garcia or Matthysee, see how he lives with natural 140lb fighters with ability and power
He's ranked 4 with the WBC & 3 with the WBA, so the Garcia fight shouldn't be a million miles away if Danny decides to defend those titles
Surely that's one that sells well in the US?

lol. And yea I pretty much agree with everything you're saying on the fight. John deserves all the dogging he's gotten or will get.Evander wrote:I don't mean to dog Molina so much but this was a high profile card and Molina should know better.

I think John mighta been on some stagefright type of thing he had such a bad showing. This seems like it mighta been the most eyes on him in his career & maybe any gameplan they had being put to the side. This was one of the worst efforts in a higher profile fights I've seen in quite awhile.
John wins when he's supposed to & loses when he's supposed to outside of two punches in two fights so he'll obviously still will be getting calls vs those types of guys looking to move up for the first time, but I don't think John gets another shot on national primetime TV again unless he lucks out & gets a call after someone is injured 8mos or two years from now.
Re: Broner is not that great....
Maybe the personal tragedy baggage he was carrying was heavy on his mind? I can't think of any other reason he would look like he did. His performance was under-par, but Broner deserves credit for doing what he had to for an easy win. I think his speedy shots with some sting had a little to do with Molina being hesitant. I am guessing Broner had tougher sparring before the fight than what Molina gave him.ReggieDiggs wrote:lol. And yea I pretty much agree with everything you're saying on the fight. Re: Broner is not that great....
I've been a Broner fan since the second half of the Miadana fight ...
Last night Broner tried to make a fight and Molina didn't want it. Broner is an idiot and all that, but he can fight and doesn't deserve all the hate he gets from fans. Adrien is there to hit and be hit. Where all all the fans who claim this is the style they want to see?
I guess they are too busy judging a young man from areas of America our middle class citizens/government doesn't give a fornicate about.

The start of that sentence kind of justifies the end of itBAD INTENTIONS wrote:

he gets the hate because the guy's an arse.
You're right, he doesn't get the credit his boxing skills deserve, but the dislike for Broner is purely for out of the ring persona and he can't get away from that until he changes his attitude.
his background, up-bringing and where he comes from don't excuse being an arrogant twat for the sake of being an arrogant twat.
The best way to get the respect is keep doing what he does in the ring and deflate his ego a little.

I hope you aren't a gambler.drew kim wrote:I like Molina at these odds for sure
Broner ended his fight against Maidana winning rounds and hurting Marcos. Khan, against a less dangerous version of Maidana, ended the fight hugging and running. People use the Maidana fight to shit on Broner. I see it as proof that whoever takes Broner out, will have to work very hard to do so.
Molina made Boxrec's 140 pound god Mattysse work. Broner could have slept through the fight, and would have had a chance at a stoppage is Molina didn't fight like a coward for 10.5 rounds ... then try to make it seem like Broner was running all night.

Broner hurt Maidana with an illegal punch.....Broner can fight, but he's not what we thought he was gonna be. U put that with his douchebag personality and he gets hated on. He handled Molina easy, Molina looked lost all night.

Why did anyone think he was anything special?hurricanemitch14 wrote:Broner can fight, but he's not what we thought he was gonna be.
I knew he was a massive hypejob from the start.
