Rigondeaux Leaves Gary Hyde.

Post by fighting_irish »

Hearing some serious whispers that Rigondeaux has dumped Hyde and signed or signing with one of Americas top promoters.
Anybody hearing anything about this.

Whats the source?

He's needed to drop some people for awhile thats for sure. There has been a long courting process between Guillermo & Roc Nation so I won't be surprised if Roc Nation is the promoter here. Be nice if it was Haymon or one of Haymon's promoters cuz I wanna see Guillermo get his shot vs the best guys & I believe Haymon has those guys.

I just wanna see Rigo/Frampton or Rigo/LSC already. Rigo is starting to remind me of Adonis Stevenson. We all thought he was unbeatable a couple of years ago but he's fought frustratingly uneven competition for far too long now.

Yes but in Rigo's case, it is because everyone in the division is scared of him. In Stevenson's case, he (Haymon) is scared of the division (Kovalev, Hopkins, Pascal).

I think the move good be good for the divison and we will see alot more of Rigondeaux as he is avoided far to much, but the money he can make in the US the fights will come. Rigo v Santa Cruz or Frampton would be a real 50/50 cracker.

:yay: Aw damn, it is Haymon (Leo is with Al & Carl is with Eddie Hearn a known Al ally). This would be a great move. Lotsa fun stuff for serious boxing fans with Guillermo involved with Al.

I think it's Rocnation, they were in for him last year and they didn't get a deal sorted, but they can afford to pay him the sort of money he wants, but doesn't draw at the box office.

Yea thats where I'm leaning, but I'm still hoping its Al.

Idk that anything besides Frampton can be done if its with RN. Al gots Leo & Abner & RN & Al don't seem to wanna play together.

Guillermo is one of my favorite guys in the game & I'd love to see his resume get filled up with all the top smaller guys. I think Nonito has been name dropping him lately too so maybe a rematch could go down there, but I'd really love seeing Guillermo vs Leo more than any other fight for him.

Don't get the impression that Santa Cruz is interested, he's getting $750k a fight at the moment, when asked what he'd want to fight Rigo, he said $3 million.

I think Al can make things happen for his guys & if Leo & Guillermo were under the same banner I think that fight definitely happens. Maybe Al pays him $3M, maybe the $3M was GBP prices & Al prices are more reasonable. Leo is a fighter. He'll fight whoever.

Thats all for nothing if he's signing with RN though.

He said it after his last fight. I get the impression Santa Cruz is happy to fight sparring partners for good money every time instead of testing himself. If he was getting $3m, I think Rigo would want similar and you end up getting to a point where it isn't possible to put the fight on with purses like that. $3m is $3m, no matter who the promoter is.

Who wouldn't be happy to beat up their lil brother indefinitely for $750,000? I don't think Leo will be that lucky though.

I don't recall a 122lber boxer getting $3M for ANYTHING. Maybe some 18-8 journeyman won the lotto in the 90s or something. I don't put too much stock in words in business when a contract isn't around & in particular when its non-business people saying those words in a business where there is a lot of sh!t talking & angling/politics.

I think it'd be done deal that Leo & Guillermo would fight within 12 months IF Al Haymon were to sign Guillermo. It doesn't sound like that IF is happening so its all a mute point.

I still hope we see Rigo Vs Wake, it seemed to be the bout Hyde was trying to work on...I dare say it, I think Wake would beat Rigo.

That seems to be the go to fight. I'm hoping for something bigger, but that seems unlikely.

Whats everyone liking about Shingo as far as Guillermo goes? You aren't the first I've seen whos mentioned him beating Guillermo & I don't think I've seen any of his fights.

You might have just seen me saying it a lot ;)

Wake is another counter punching southpaw, several inches taller and rangier than Rigondeaux and very confident. Not many fighters pursue a fight with Rigondeaux so it speaks volumes that Shingo WANTS the fight.

I might just be basing it on things like his win over Oguni but he's impressed me a lot so far and appears to just have that "winning under-dog" quality, like Amnat and Tete.

Probably going to be way off but I'll stand by my pick
