I'm not sure if Skys viewing figure have picked up in recent years, but when you compare them to the viewers Fury got on 5 and Khan and now Frampton get on ITV, it's a wonder Sky can compete and that terrestrial channels do not have a lot more invested in British boxing

Most notable thing for me was Prizefighter, Hearn always claims that Sky like it and it does good viewing figures. Not according to that data, most of the time it wasn't in the top 10 for that week, only 3 times was it above 100,000, one was 101k, the other had Audley in it and the other had Joshua on the bill to pad it out.

Sky compete because they pay huge rights fees for the fights. Terrestrial channels won't do that.

No wonder ITV were reluctant to get back into boxing. That fight was terrible, enough to put the average casual fan off boxing for life.

I think the original thought was 'let's bring in something different for the casual fan that they'll understand with one winner etc'.

Of course Sky can compete, they dont just rely on boxing, and they get millions in subscription revenue...

Sky Sports are only holding onto boxing (Matchroom) to appear more professional, they rely far more on Football, Darts, Tennis, F1 and Golf, and just throw in boxing to make themselves appear to be a more complete Sports channel! They will probably push hard for Mayweather vs Pac exactly for this reason!

Sky Sports will never hit the figures ITV or Channel 5 do, they prob only have about 5mil subscribers, so you would need a huge percentage of the potential viewing audience to tune in and that just wont happen with boxing!

If Anthony Joshua got a deal with ITV, he would probably bring in over 5mil viewers, due to his BBC Olympic exposure!

Couldn't find Sky Box Office on BARB, so I'm assuming they don't report figures to them so the numbers don't get out publically. I'll find Hennessey, Maloney, Hatton and Frank's shows on Sky from 2012 tonight. After that I can go back to July 1998 on Sky and 2008 on terrestrial, which I'm assuming is down to the digital switchover.

Seems a general downward trend there.

DeGale bored everyone out of their minds on Channel 5 and the Maxinutrition tournament clearly didn't do as well as they would have hoped. Apart from Fury, who drew well everytime, Galahad and DeGale's best figures were with Eubank Jr on the undercard, don't think it's a coincidence that the viewing figures dropped off after him and Fury went to fight on other channels.

Been having a conversation with an American who was saying the PBC figure was amazing...sort of have to wonder what standard they are applying to "amazing".

Expe has done great work there finding out the UK stuff, I know Rigo/Amagsa + Ioka/Carrilo got 10m+ AND was counter programmed with another boxing card featuring Kono, Taguchi and Uchiyama (around 4M I think), Murata the day before got 8M (Inoue got 6M on the same show that had 2 figures reported).

Klitscho get's "millions" in Germany

I daren't think what some of the Chinese audiences are (I suspect the 200,000,000 is well off, but it'll still dwarf what the PBC stuff got), I believe Chris John was, at one point, the most watched fighter on the planet [his bouts aired in Indonesia on free TV, in the US and via international stream]).

I'd love to know what Channel 7 get for their almost weekly shows in Thailand (despite many of them being mismatches)
