Hearing horror stories out of Mayweather training camp.
Saw an article today about him KOing a sparring partner.

And Elie Seckback reported this 4 days ago.

I hope he saves some of this for May 2.
Hope Floyd Doesn't Overtrain
Re: Hope Floyd Doesn't Overtrain
How can performing well in sparrings possibly be bad ? Unless he hurts himself or doesn't get good taper starting a couple weeks before the fight, performing well in training can only be good for him.

I think Floyd and his team know what they're doing by now.

He'll only be 'overtrained' if he loses.
I've never heard a fighter that won a fight referred to as 'overtrained'.

I've heard of things such as overtraining and a fighter training past his peak, so it may be possible to burn oneself out prior to the bout and have nothing or very little the day of the fight.ikorolev wrote:How can performing well in sparrings possibly be bad ? lol this is true. Guys are always on the "I don't wanna make excuses, but........." when they lose. It is what it is.Syntax Error wrote:He'll only be 'overtrained' if he loses.

I've talked about this several times, but I believe the confidence you need to compete at the level we see guys competing at in boxing needs a high level of stubborn confidence day in & day out. If you think you ain't sh!t or even think you are #2 you ain't getting far in the sport. I think the excuses that come after a L are all about keeping that confidence one needs, around for the next fight. When you start doubting yourself in boxing you might as well hang them up.
Re: Hope Floyd Doesn't Overtrain
The thing I find most intriguing is that it is being said that it was a body shot.
Floyd trying to invoke the ghosts of Torrecampo and Singsurat?
