Your First KO

Post by SAPFO »

I was 14 years old, and had a history in various martial arts. Judo, KB, Karate. I had grew out of karate, I literally hated it, and wanted to fight. So my mom took me over to a ju-jitsu class at the local community centre (ABA gym underneath, wish I would have went there). Being tall for my age (but slim back then), they stuck me with the adults on a separate day. I was the youngest by 11 years, these were grown men, and all were blue/brown/black belts. They literally kicked the shite out of me for months.

Then one night I am sparring one of the instructors. He was 25, and a black belt. He was doing all sorts of shite trying to show off and drop me, looking back, he should never have been going so hard on what was just a kid. Anyway, I avoided his shots as had learnt they feckin hurt, then cracked him with a straight right while moving backwards.

BOOOM !! He hit the deck like a sniper had taken him out. A few seconds later people started to realise he was completely out and ran over. As well as putting him to sleep, I had smashed his cheekbone in pretty bad. I only saw him once after that, a week later when he came it to 'get something', and even then one side of his face was black. I left not long after as my mom finally believed I could handle the big world.

That was my first KO. :KO:

In my first amateur fight the other lad was boxing in his home town and all his family and friends were there chanting his name! pretty intimidating for a 14 year old novice boxer. After being on the receiving end of a 30 second bombardment I kept my composure and dropped him in the first, then stopped him in the second! SILENCE!! Great memory.

One minute I was feinting with the jab and the next minute (or so it seemed) I was sat on the bottom rope being tended to..

I'll get me coat...

accidentally dropped my friend pretty heavily in the gym! we were sparring about 70% speed, and i had been drilling countering the jab with a right hand over the top, anyway, he came in really obviously with a heavy jab and i just naturally countered straight from reflex and the force of him walking onto it and not seeing the shot put him over and quite shaky for a couple of minutes! i felt awful afterwards but he was fine with me  I've never actually had someone completely out in a competitive bout though
