Forget Frampton Hearn needs to make Rigondeuex V Quigg
As much as I've enjoyed bashing fast Eddie today for the Degale shambles I want to take it a different direction.
Eddie has got to make a statement and a big one fast otherwise he loses all reming credibility.
Mcguigan has got complete control over negotiations for Frampton - Quigg. he's got the bigger name, financial backing from
NI government, the IBF Etc etc. Barry has also made it clear that he wants to stay on ITV and we know Hearn cannot Allow that to happen.
A) Because he would have no role to play in the promotion and would effectively be iced out into a management role which is exactly what Joe Gallagher is
B) Whilst Quigg is not contracted to sky only matchroom Eddie has an obligation to provide the best fights for his broadcaster
C) It would be a humilation and bad for business generally
All of us on here and all other forums plus boxing fans In general would all praise Eddie for making the fight and Quigg for having the bollocks.
So why not bring over Rigo? It wouldn't cost that much surely as Rigo struggles to get an decent fights and the American don't real want to know.
As silly as it sounds can you imagine if Scott won? That would completely turn the tables on Team Frampton And fast Eddie's engine will be purring again instead of misfiring like an old Nissan Datsun As it is at the moment.

We often argue the cases for making the big fights from a fans perspective.
But this shows, from a promoter perspective, why facing the best in the division makes perfect sense.
Frampton's team couldn't even criticise Hearn/Quigg for avoiding them as he has bypassed him and gone straight to the top man.
Frampton can claim to be the only "true world champion" all he wants, he is yet to face anyone in the top 3 or 4 in the division and Quigg has the opportunity to do exactly that.
McGuigan is playing hard ball and Eddie doesn't have a leg to stand in in the negotiations, so this may actually be the best way to make a statement.
Continuing to fight voluntary defences of his ordinary belt against weak opposition isn't an option, if he doesn't fight Frampton next the only acceptable option is Rigo or LSC. (the same goes for Frampton if he cannot get the Quigg fight)

Meh.
I'll give you that.
I just find it hard to get too enthusiatic about an opponent he had already whupped.
but I suppose he had earned his ranking with a title win and a couple defences. But you'll surely agree he was a b level champion?
as an opponent, Frampton couldn't hold martinez over Quigg having faced Rigo.
Or LSC for that matter.

As much as it's a good idea for Eddie to swing things back in his favour. Rigo would box quigg all the way back to gigg lane.
Then what? Quigg no longer has a version of a world title, so that's out the window, no longer has an unbeaten record, won't have improved his fanbase as most won't know who rigo is.
Only way it is a win situation is if quigg somehow finds a way of beating rigo.

quigg should fight kid galahad
Re: Forget Frampton Hearn needs to make Rigondeuex V Quigg
About the only way that fight makes sense would be he could pick up the title once Rigo's tossed it a way and he becomes a two-time champ.

I understand your points and I mostly agree but if he can't get the Frampton fight what can Eddie do with Quigg? The pressure is well and truly on If he carries on bringing over malnourished, no hopers even sky bosses might start getting restless.
If Mcguigan turns around and says yes ok Let's fight on sky PPV then this is a redundant thread but I just can't see it. Barry wants to be in total control. Don't forget he failed as a promoter many years ago (something which Eddie reminded him of when they left for BN) so this is his time and he's loving it and TBF he's done a blinding job.
Eddie is now really finding out that this promotion game is real hard work. he's had all the fanfare now the honeymoon is over and he has entered a really storm period which he has to prove he can weather.
He's lucky he's got his dads guidance but he now needs to think outside of the box and do something Which all great promoters like his dad and Warren have had to do in the past..roll the dice and take a risk even if it doesn't appear to make sense.
Bring this fuker Rigo over. As I said it's a unique situation where a champion of a division hold no value and could be brought over for a reasonable purse but would be meet with unanimous praise by fans and media by just making the fight. As I said if Quigg wins then Hearn is the guvnor in negotiations with Team Frampton plus his reputation will be almost completley restored.
Re: Forget Frampton Hearn needs to make Rigondeuex V Quigg
Not going to happen because Eddie wants to cash out Quigg on Frampton PPV. As long as Frampton side agrees on Sky PPV it will go ahead even if Quigg is the B side.
BTW I dont think Eddie entered reality storm. I think he made wrong decision with all those mismatches, unjustifiable PPV, etc and he is paying the price for his mistakes.

Apparently rigo's team are interested in fighting quigg due to quigg holding the regular wba belt. .. rigo is a fantastic boxer but his last fight didn't go to plan ... you never know he could cause an upset but It's A long shot. .
Re: Forget Frampton Hearn needs to make Rigondeuex V Quigg
Quigg brings nothing to a fight with Frampton so that is why a Rigo fight is nothing to lose but everything to gain.
Quigg can knock Rigo out not saying he will but he can if he takes risks in the fight.

Quigg would be totally outclassed by Rigo and probably stopped.
I've read Gary Hyde is petitioning the WBA to try and get the Rigo-Quigg fight. Can not see that fight happening unless Quigg can decision Frampton which isn't going to happen IMO.
I think Eddie would rather Quigg vacate than fight Rigo and then face Frampton later in the year for a PPV event.
They've got to push for Quigg-Frampton now, while the iron is hot. Both of them will make massive purses. It sells now while both have, ahem, 'belts'....

Hearn has said, nobody knows Rigo, he doesn't sell tickets. What he really means is, Rigo doesn't have a football club fanbase that Eddie can tweet up and punt a few extra tickets to.
I think Gary is struggling to hold on to Rigo so I'm not sure about any UK fights happening for him.
