BT could set up a PPV channel but I'm not sure they could have it up and running within 8 weeks across all TV platforms i.e. SKY, Virgin Media etc... Buying the rights and setting up a PPV service would be pretty costly.

Out of the 3 potential bidders, BT winning the rights and putting the fight on BT Sports would be the worst case scenario for those with SKY TV. If you want BT Sport for just one month you have to pay £15.00 activation fee, £13.50 for the monthly subscription plus £3.00 extra for HD. £31.50 is pretty steep. Plus if you choose the option of no activation fee, and don't read the small print, that's you locked into a 12 month subscription for the channel!

So basically, if BT win it, it will be on standard BT Sports. And why would they need a PPV channel looking at the costs there Chad. More subs are the incentive, same as BN. BT are looking at the future and this fight is a fantastic platform for whoever wins the rights.

I think both BT and B0xnati0n would love to get one over on SKY. If BT win the rights, wonder if they'd give B0xnati0n access to show the fight 3 to 5 days later. The two companies are already in cahoots in terms of Boxing Tonight and the upcoming Total Combat.

Personally I don't think BT have/will even bid for it- when it ones down to it is how much do Sky want it and how much are they willing to pay.
Listening to FW interview with kuggan he didn't appear confident of getting the deal done and quickly moved the conversation on.

I hope BT show they are serious and smash Sky on the rights. They've all ready shown with the Footy bids they mean business in the sports market. Surely, the biggest fight, money-wise, of all time has a lot of pull...

I don't see BN being able to contend with those two giants. BT all ready has the mid-week program, FNF from ESPN and the WSB, they are a few live fights away from being the must have channel for boxing fans, especially if they can get a decent domestic promoter on board or a fighter with his own promotions outfit, like Khan or possibly Joshua in a couple of years.

allegedly may be willing to make a loss on the fight, backed by Bill Ives' money, to boost subscriber numbers long term and secure the future of the channel, I can't see Sky or BT showing it if they thought they were going to lose money.

allegedly is the must have channel for boxing fans, BT hardly shows anything, the midweek program is given to them by allegedly and WSB is free on the internet, add in a few live fights and they might be classed as a channel that broadcasts boxing, right now Eurosport are above them when it comes to boxing.

BN would need a million subs at £12 a pop for the fight to just break even, if the figure of 12 million and rising, is right. We should take into account advertising, which I'm guessing must be a large amount but still, BN is a small fish.

BT also show FNF live and have a team all set to go on the boxing front. I don't find it that hard to see BT getting this fight and getting more involved in the sport with it. Especially when they pay over 320+ million for there footy coverage a season. Big players.

£8 subscription fee means they'd need 600,000 subscriptions, they've already got some of those and the advantage they have over PPV is that a lot won't bother to cancel and they'll get an extra £12 the next month.

If people aren't going to subscribe with the football on there, I can't see them doing it for one fight in the early hours of the morning, too easy to just stream it and save £30 and like Alba says, they need those people to subscribe for more than one month to get anything out of it.

Because people are very weary entering into a subscription and fully aware that it can be a nightmare to unsubscribe (they have you by the goulies once you subscribe). However, in fairness, BoxN@tion are very good when it comes to unsubscribing. Most people wont know this though!

Your average viewer also wont be interested in getting the channel for the whole month, they just want to watch the fight with their mates.

Its a lot easier to pay a one off PPV rather than subscribe to a channel and then have to unsubscribe straight afterwards!
