Most Blasphemous Comment of 2015

Post by bnovelist »

I don't remember who it was because I've read so many comments this past weekend about the Kovalev vs Pascal analysis and one user had

the nerve, the audacity to say "What Did Pascal Expect? He Modeled Himself After Roy Jones Jr."

OMG....Roy was basically the Mayweather 1993-2004 #1 fighter in all of boxing for 10 consecutive years which is very hard to do.

Now all of the sudden Roy Jones' legacy is on the level of Zab Judah?

This right here goes to show me that people MUST be themselves and go after what they want in life because people are going to say

whatever is convienant at that present moment lol. Wow.......

All of the sudden Roy is a meldrick taylor, a chad dawson, damn......

I think you misunderstood the comment, bnovelist.

For 99.9% of boxers, modelling themselves on Roy Jones Jr would be a terrible idea. RJJ was a great fighter in his prime, but he relied heavily on his freakish speed and reflexes and when those dimmed with age, he became a vulnerable fighter. Ali was much the same, except unlike RJJ, he had a phenomenal chin which allowed him to absorb punishment.

Nah....that sounded like some insult to me lol  Its because of Ali we had the great Larry Holmes, Ray Leonard, Tyson, etc..

Its because of Roy Jones we had the pleasure of watching Mayweather Jr! When I first saw Floyd I saw right away with his speed and

style he modeled himself after Roy, I saw 60% Roy Jones the way Floyd threw those checkhooks and the lead rights lol. Please don't

insult a prime RJJ. Look at how far Floyd took it.

Not that retarded because fighters have to make the best of their abilities and attributes, not someone else. Great example is Broner and Berto trying the shoulder roll because it works for Floyd Mayweather.

Roy was basically the Mayweather 1993-2004 #1 fighter in all of boxing for 10 consecutive years which is very hard to do.
Roy Jones Junior's fundamentals and defense were technically very poor, which he more than made up for with his other-worldly reflexes and speed. He fought in a way that was all wrong for almost every other fighter, and once he lost even just a little bit of his speed, he was a sitting duck, even for fighters bordering on mediocre.
So that's why people wonder why Pascal would model his style after Roy's.
Pascal has never had the goods to use the Roy Jones style with any real success.

Boxers with poor fundamentals do not win Val Barker trophies.

Athletes with more speed and faster reflexes than any other can accomplish things that aren't typically accomplished. Especially in a sport where that super-speed can trump all things.

Every season there is a boxer who is faster than the rest, Jones had a solid grasp of the fundamentals, didn't his dad hit him with a stick if he made a mistake?
