This seems like PR/mindgame sh!t to me. Obviously these guys know if you don't agree to something when you sign the contract its not agreed to. So I can't believe this is anything else than mind games.

Then the question is why wasn't it included in the contract?

My understanding is its a no go because it limits the penalty if someone does come up dirty. Why just limit it to $5M for a fight worth $300M when it could be even more of a penalty. I remember there was a $10M fine for each pound either guy would come in over the agreed weight during their first attempt at making this fight. Trying to come in hopped up on PEDs seems like it should be a bigger penalty than coming in overweight to me with these guys' outlooks. And I mean with the NSAC suspension either guy would likely get for a dirty test result they'd be done for their career & there would be zero chance at making this fight again so the money loss would be huge for both guys for a dirty test by either one.

It is indeed the take Ellerbee had, that 5 million was way too little a penalty for a fight of this magnitude.

Think of it this way.

What do folks remember more, the beating Salido laid on Guerrero or the fact that Salido came up dirty later and the fight was declared a NC?

Not that even a roided Manny beats Floyd, but why take the chance?

I agree with those that say this is just more hype, more stuff to pump up buys, keep the rumor mill going...

Yawn. Unprofessional from Koncz negotiating well after the damn thing is signed.

Floyd's camp spinning it as if Pacquiao might fail a test and therefore only be liable for 5m instead of a much larger law suit.

Pacquiao's camp spinning it as if they are putting their money where the mouths are in relation to drug testing and shrouding doubt over Floyd's reluctance to agree to a penalty.

All very boring, the build-up can do without it.

It isn't spin. At least not from the Mayweather camp.

And this, my friend, is what they call a teachable moment.

Check this out (FF to 1:10 if you are impatient):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lMLg8jluKM#t=177

If I am not mistaken, that is Arum at the press conference explaining why Floyd's camp declined the stipulation and not only understanding it BUT AGREEING WITH IT BEING THE BEST THING FOR BOTH FLOYD AND MANNY.

Why is this a teachable moment?

Because the same way Koncz went to the press and tried to spin this as some kind of smoking gun proving Floyd is not really about testing is what has been going on for the past 5 and a half years about Floyd's willingness to fight.

TR goes to the press with half truths, false assumptions, and outright lies- and it gets published as gospel.

It is partly how we got the "Floyd is scared" myth still so pervasive today.

Lotta Pac fans in for a rude awakening May 2nd...

I think Manny knows what he's doing, remember Floyd not only has Ariza who used to serve Pacquiao those "Special Shakes" Mayweather now has the dude that was building JMM up (Angel Heredia).

Heredia bragged and boasted how he was able to master the mixture of PEDS to the point of being undetectable, personally I cannot blame Manny for being smart about this and asking for someone to test Floyd, he should've raised it to 20 million.

Continuing with that example, how many remember just how suspicious that test actually was for Salido who went on to pay for a sample to be tested by an independent lab just a day later...and that test showed no signs of a PED...

Makes you wonder why Salido didn't pursue things more forcefully to keep the belt that was stripped, since the second test indicates he earned it legit.

It is amazing to me that many people don't realize that the $5 million fine request for testing positive by team Pacquiao is meant to fool the public into thinking Pac wants more of a penalty. The fact is, they want to limit the penalty. The current contract includes a 4 year ban and a much higher fine. With Floyd turning it down he is once again made look like the bad guy.

This is standard. Floyd has made himself the bad guy thus he gets treated like the bad guy. If Hitler had Oprah appeal & charm we'd all be speaking German right now. Its all in how anything is angled & fed to the public. We should all know this by now. Any intelligent thinking boxing fan will realize when Floyd & Bob agree on something that that is definitely the reality. Floyd & Bob agreed $5M don't make no damn sense & Michael Koncz makes Leonard Ellerbe look like a mensa member.

And hence, my post about a teachable moment.

The same post with video of Arum saying THEY don't want the 5 million stipulation either.

Some folks just refuse to learn tho...

FYI, if you use the word teachable and Ricky in the same sentence, it becomes kind of an oxymoron. :OhYes:

What's making you come at me? I haven't said anything negative about Manny in this situation, if anything I've stated he should've asked for more of a penalty/more money, as far as being a fan of Floyd's after the fight then all I can say is this; I've been a fan of his since the Olympics and win or lose I will still be a fan.

I can guarantee though that many of fans of Manny will totally disappear from boxing, boxing websites and any other combat sports altogether once Floyd whups his ass. I wonder if you will come back here crying, making excuses for Manny or giving the proper respect due to Mayweather.

I'm betting on the first two for sure though.

basically team Pacquiao wants to add penalty who will fail the post drug test and team Mayweather refuse to agree.
on the other hand, the fight is made and let the lapses be lapses on team Pacquiao, they failed to make sure of everything, things happen.
Lets just get in on... :bag:
