Could Bellew beat any of the Cruiserweight champions

Post by davie »

Davie says No!

Without going into the merits or the weaknesses of the top men in the CW division, I just don't see Bellew being world class and it would need a particularly weak world champion for Tony to have a good shout.

Does anyone see a weakness in one of the belt holders or perhaps a style that Tony could exploit?

Not impressed with Hernandez but then again Bellew hasn't fought a proper Cruiserweight yet plus he pulled out of a WbO final eliminator wonder what his next move is.

No. Even the supposedly weak link in Hernandez would make Bellew look poor.

No.

Bellew (like Paul Smith plus others) falls into that in-between category.

Above British level but way way short of World level.

No chance but it's a really tough division to be fair to him.

I doubt he could beat any of the super middle champs never mind cruiserweight, he'd get destroyed and due to his warrior nature, he might have to die in the ring.

Yeah should have fought this polish guy

http://www.BS.com/marco-huck-k ... wbo--87797

Can not see why he pulled out for that movie you think boxing career would come first. None of the champs will travel to fight him so best is become a mandatory and be in a good bargaining position to get the best deal.

I only seen Drozd when he KO'd Masternak to win the European and he was good that night,I still didn't expect him to near shut out Wlodarczyk to win the WBC,I never seen that fight but that's good going

Hernandez is an eccentric ,great some nights, awful the next,he's always good value though and often has to cling on for the end or pull a haymaker out the bag, awful stamina and can box round after round without throwing a punch but when he's at the races he technically good and an awkward southpaw (for a good 5 rounds at least)

Huck and Lebedev have their defensive flaws and if Bellew actually implements his game plan on them then he could win rounds but I just can't see Tony holding either guy off before coming apart eventually

Cleverly rubber match anyone? :KO:

Might be a good-ish scrap with Huck for a few rounds as they both love to mix it and Marco could well be a few percent down on what he was a couple of years back....but I'd opt for the German every time. Huck's very heavy handed, strong as a bull and as it would be in Germany he'd get it on points even if Tony went the course.

Doubt it. Afolabi has fallen short at world level a few times now and I rate him as a better Cruiser than Bellew.

Bellew is basically a domestiv fighter with a big mouth.

He wouldn't win a belt a LHW, never mind at Cruiser. Afolabi is number 1 in the UK.

Afolabi vs McKenzie can't fail to be a good fight, if it happens.

Is Afolabi's title challenge with Hernandez being rearranged?

To be honest, i'd fancy him (and quite a few others) to beat Lebedev now if they could fight outside of Russia. I can't see him holding up for much longer after the hiding he took off Jones

Na that's a bit of disservice to Tony IMO.

He beat Chilemba and was competitive with Cleverly. He's at least European Level; nothing to be scoffed at that.

I'd like to see it happen again. Let's face it there not that far apart in terms of levels at the minute.

Ovil being above him
