The Gomez versus Kamegai on March 20th...

I thought it might have been a little closer as I felt Kamegai edged a few of the later rounds and had the 10-8 round due to the point deduction in the 4th as well as winning the round.
But the right boxer won, no complaints here.

Just watched the fight two tough guys the pair of them.

Oh yeah forgot about Skeete actually Kamegai would but a decent fight stylewise.

Well I tell you what, I didn't see the fight panning out like that,I thought Kamegai would have too much for Gomez and eventually break him down with sheer aggression but Alfonso boxed his ears off ,I knew Gomez was coming off a decision win over Parades but I thought Yoshihiro would be too fresh for him

If anything it was Kamegai who was looking finished,he was just plodding and predictable ,which to be fair is his usual style but he just wasn't landing enough to trouble Gomez apart from the 8th

I though Kamegai would bring so much more than he did.

Either he isn't a good as he showed in his last few fights prior, or those wars had some impact on performance last night.

Maybe he should take a few months off...

Kamegai was flattered a bit by the Guerrero fight in my opinion. I was expecting him to have more success than he did against Gomez but wasn't shocked to see it unfold as it did; he's got a huge heart and can take a solid shot but he's also very limited and in particular easy to hit.

It was the same Kamegai that gave Guerrero hell. If you watch the first round of the Guerrero-Kamegai fight(and all of the Johan Perez fight), Guerrero is boxing Kamegai well. Guerrero then elects of his own accord(which is a flaw of his) to bang it out with Kamegai starting in Round 2 instead of boxing him. Guerrero made life a lot harder for himself against Kamegai by doing that. Whatever else you say about Gomez, he never fights with a poor gameplan, even in the fights that he has lost he fought with the proper gameplan for the opponent in question. He saw that Kamegai struggles with movement, doesn't have much of an outside game, and while relentless with the pressure doesn't cut the ring off well. He executed a plan accordingly to that. Even with all that, Kamegai made the fight very hard, there aren't that many fighters at Welterweight/Light Middleweight that could deal with that kind of relentless style. But Gomez is one of those guys that can.
