Not who your thought was the best, but who you most enjoyed watching for whatever reason. Be it the steal of Hagler, the silky skills of Leonard, the power of Hearns or the heart of Duran?

Also, if you havent read it already, Four Kings is a great book as well and will make you want to re-live the magic of those legendary fights.

How can the answer yo this be anyone but Hearns?

Not my fav of this group. But his combination of skill and recklessness makes him the greatest attraction in boxing history. IMHO. No one could be more focused and under control one minute followed by obvious flares of out of control rage and then back to cool auto pilot in seconds. His charisma was all about his ring performance. Never seemed interested in being a side show act outside the ring.

Its crazy to think that Hearns was not considered a puncher before he turned pro.

I'm a huge fan of skill.

That means Sugar Ray Leonard would be my favorite to watch on this list.

Not to say the others were not tho.

Hearns was fun to watch, but I was never a huge fan of the KRONK idea of EVERYONE being taught to hold that left so low.

With some guys, that was a KO waiting to happen.

The more i watch Ray Leonard back, the better he gets. His finish of Hearns was hugely impressive.

Kronk was like the Wu-Tang Clan of boxing. I don't think there is any group as big that had as much success as Kronk did in boxing regardless of anything with a left being low.

Oh, no doubt.

You can't argue with what they achieved. And I was a big Hearns fan and fan of others from the gym.

But, when they invariably got KTFO by right hands, all you could do is shake your head.

The only skill missing from Hearns, was a big mouth...(and I mean this...it is a "skill' of it's own) And on occasion to simply "fight" instead of box.

But when he called upon the skills he had, he seemed to do rather well against that fella Leonard. A fella that some people here seem to think had the best skills.

I think the times he was losing to Ray, was during those times when he just got a bit annoyed. One of Leonard's "skills" was to annoy. But SRL used it well, and I think it won him a few fights along the way. So I'm not slammin' SRL, just framing the thought that getting under your opponents skin is a "skill".

I always preferred Hagler and he was my pick here, but i mean these guys are all top notch.

Interesting views buzz, i think Hearns boxing skills are very underrated, but mainly because he had such a devastating punch and people would perhaps always associate power/KO's with Hearns.

No doubt Leonard's brain got him through a lot of fights, but i guess its ultimately about putting it all together.

This is a tough one, because I loved watching all four for very different reasons.

Ultimately, I thought Tommy Hearns was the most exciting watch, as you never knew what could happen with him.

He could put on a masterclass, or put his opponent to sleep without breaking sweat, or get chinned himself.

Duran was a mainstay in our home when I was growing up... it seemed the only thing that ever held him back was his own self. He either came in heavy, or he got too old, or he got full of himself--- but when he brought his A game, he outshined all these men.

Fair comment homicide, Durans 'fornicate it' threshold always seemed so low to me, literally ready to drop his gloves and have a fist fight at any moment. But when he was a controlled maniac he was immense.
