Braehmer vs Krasniqi RTD9 or TKO10?

Post by Mastrangelos »

Just wondering.. Obviously Krasniqi didn't come out of round number 10. When result was announced in the ring it was "Winner by TKO in 1 second into round number 10", but now a lot of sites list the result as RTD 9.

(Here at 42:45 you can hear official announcment).
Does it depend on National Rules or is it up to how Governing body in such cases? It's a bit confusing.

Round 9 had been completed. Round 10 is when the stoppage/retirement occurred.

Yes, it was announced as a TKO 10, but we record it as RTD 9, time 3:00. Krasniqi gave up in his corner, shortly before the round began. As soon as the round was about to begin, ref waved it off. Clear RTD, Krasniqi never left his corner to begin round 10. It was called quits immediately after the 1-minute-pause.

I'm still not sure if I quite get it. Let's have Braehmer vs Maccarinelli as an example(also stopped in the corner). You guys have it as a RTD, but on WBA site, they've written:
"Officially TKO6."
(http://www.wbanews.com/boxing-news/brae ... ight-title)
Does it mean that RTD term is only used by you guys to differentiate between technical Stoppage in corner and technical stoppage during 3 minute round period and is not an official, technically-right fight result?
Thanks for answers.

I'm disappointed that BOXREC don't seem to take notice when a clear mistake is pointed out to them.
The RTD9 they have for the result of this bout is 100% incorrect and you don't have to believe me, the TV announcement or graphics shown that night .... Believe the WBA whose belt they where fighting for. They have announce that the OFFICIAL RESULT is TKO RND 10 with the official time given as 1 sec of round 10.

This is CONFIRMED by simply looking at their OFFICIAL WEBSITE (LINK HERE) http://www.wbanews.com/wba-fights-maste ... mit=submit

I also emailed them to make sure as I was in dispute with a local bookmaker and received a response referring me to their website and confirming the result as I have stated above.

BOXREC seem uncertain of their own rules but whatever the rules in this case there is only 1 correct result TKO RND 10 and NOT the RTD9 have given on the BOXREC Site !!!

BOXREC is a great tool BUT really should correct errors when highlighted especially when the OFFICIAL records are there to confirm the error.

PLEASE AMEND THE RESULT TO TKO RND 10 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOUR 100% CORRECT BUT YOU ALSO HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT A TKO AND A RTD ARE BOTH COUNTED AS A KNOCK OUT ON FIGHTERS RECORDS SO NO MATTER WHAT YOU CALL IT TKO OR RTD= KO

When corner retires between rounds, some regulators rule it TKO of completed round. If one inserts partial scores, it throws punters in to a spin

I guess, for example, if someone puts in TKO 9 instead of RTD 9, time 3:00, you would have scores like 90-81. People would then wonder how, if stopping occurred during round nine, how scores could be obtained for a non-completed round, although that is nothing I would not have seen on official reports... :D

In Oz its ruled TKO of completed round, which Adam, Ben & I convert to RTD at 3min of the round.
We are supplied with scores to completed round, either by tally sheet or other means, which makes our work easy.

OK SO IF YOU GUYS ARE CORRECT TELL ME HOW IF CONTEST IS STOPPED BETWEEN ROUNDS CAN THAT STOPPAGE BE COUNTED AS A KO ON FIGHTERS RECORD WHEN IN BETWEEN RDS IS NO PART OF FIGHT WITH NO TIME GIVEN?
TO ME TKO AND RTD IS THE SAME THING BECAUSE IF REFEREE STOPS A FIGHT BECAUSE OPPONANT IS GETTING TO MUCH PUNISHMENT IT IS CALLED TKO WHICH IS REFEREE'S TECHNICAL DECISION ?
ALL TKO'S AND RTD'S COUNT AS KNOCK OUTS. WHICH MEANS THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE IN A TKO OR RTD SO IT REALLY DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU CALL A STOPPAGE IT = KO, KNOCK OUT. THIS ALL OVER THE WORLD OF BOXING SCORING.

Boxrec introduced RTD years ago, before some editors killed each other  Some, depending their location, inserted TKO of completed round, others TKO of next round. RTD was the mediator.
I certainly agreed with it, because I fail to see how a concluded & scored round could end up TKO.
We are somewhat privileged to be supplied with full info from local commissions and at same time judges Perth based Ben Keilty & Brisbane based Adam Height (both editors) are usually present at the fights...hence our results are up as they happen.
At end of it...RTD, TKO, KO = KO in boxers' record.
