Realisticy, how good is May/Pac going to be?
Re: Realisticy, how good is May/Pac going to be?
i think this fight is what pac man has left, floyd can do what his does for another couple of years. the truth is you cant tell how good a fight is going to be , till it becomes one

It shouldn't be hard to understand what he means. When two guys of great talent fight, you very rarely get a Hagler-Hearns type fight.Ricky_ wrote:fergusg wrote:mildly entertaining or even a slightly intriguing affair.

Seriously, 2 of the greatest ever to lace a pair of gloves are going to get it on and idiots like you think it's going to be "slightly intriguing" at best. I wonder why you even bother following the sport, you don't seem to know very much about it and are morei nterested in who Al Haymon isn't doing business with than the fight game.
you should do us all a favour and delete your sorry ass from the board.
Hopkins and Jones fought 24 rounds together, and you'd be hard pressed to make a 30-second clip of interesting highlights from the two fights combined. Similar for Holyfield and Lewis.

So the standard is gatti v ward? Like I said, this is tge best the best. A fight for real fans. Obviously it's not going to be a barroom brawl that those 2 bums produced.

and the best can't fight action packed?
if leonard vs hearns managed to do it, than pacquiao vs mayweather could also do it.

In an absolute objective sense, I'd say it's likely to be a bit dull. I can't see Mayweather taking any risks, rather potshot and defend. He'll do what he needs to do to maximise his chances of winning and if that's not exactly fan-friendly, I don't think he'll lose any sleep.

the thing is this.
if floyd starts winning round after round early and finds comfort, than i totaly aggree with you, than we will have mayweather-hatton all over, meaning floyd doing what you just said.
but a well trained pacquiao is not 'a normal boxer, if pac comes in the ring in great shape, which i expect will happen and also wins some rounds, simply by either overwehlming floyd or just by landing more, cause of higher punch ouput etc., than i could envision floyd open up in later rounds, to be aggressiv himself. because, i doubt if manny finds some rounds and the fight is close midway through the fight, that floyd himself won't think "the fight is close, i have to do more in order to win clear rounds". i think pacquiao is gonne be activ, so if it is a close fight and floyd is only circling around and not doing much, than judges might go to the more activ boxer, floyd cant risk that and than has to do mroe himself, which leaves him more open for pacs attacks.
but basicly it comes down to it in my mind, why simply wins more rounds early in the first 5 rounds. like i said, if floyd easily beats pac round after round, than its running and picking appart from outside all day. but if its 3:3 until round 6, than it would be stupid for floyd not to do more.

I'm predicting OK.
I think Manny will have his 'moments' & illicit a modicum of excitement, but ultimately, Mayweather will work him out & shut him down.
