I was at the London finals in 2011 (I think it was then) and saw Edwards put on a masterclass against Patel. Patel looked awkward and wasn't getting anything too clean off and Edwards showed excellent in and out boxing, playing perfectly to the points scoring system. Edwards was on the top of his game that time. I think Patel stormed out of the ring after the decision.

Having said that, Patel can box, and achieved a lot as an amateur. The views don't lie either, he's got the same amount as the recent Haye interview (yes his a few days older, but still!). He may talk rubbish but people are already watching it. As Haye himself knows all too well, selling yourself any way you can is better than having a boring monotonous 'media trained' personality.

He's just a silly young man, he's not really my cup of tea but he can box. It'd be a shame if his silly mouth gets in the way of his career, I don't think people like Patel or Broner really believe what they say - it's bravado and loads of younger fans seem to like it.

Steve Goodwin has demonstrated that he his bookmaker's foresight there, a rare but admirable quality. Good on him.

Made it to the ABA finals, lost by DQ, and made an arrant fool of himself at the end.
To be fair not the best refereeing I have seen.

I think actualy Patel does all the basics very well. Good jab, has good power, it is a shame that so many young fighters seem to be want to be hamed/mayweather/broner clones-if Patel cut out a lot of what he does which breaks up his own rythm, I think he is good enough to do ok.

A lot of young boxers talk a load of plums-but there is no real harm in it and it puts bums on the seats.

I saw the infamous video yesterday. It's cringe at best.

IFL tv are partly to blame on this, I know for a fact that they have refused to put online some of BJS or Chas Symonds videos when they were 'over the top'. They actually have been reprimanted by Eubank Senior recently for posting some of BJS videos on his son.

Anyway, it was foolish from Patel and his trainer (or whoever is in the background laughing) should be ashamed of himself. Good move from Goodwin promotions, even though I can't believe he is releasing Patel and keeping Ali Adams...

What is the actual reason he let Patel go? Was it more to do with the fact he sells no tickets rather than any 'moral' reason?

Great move by Prince though, from total obscurity he's now known to 1000's after one interview. I couldn't watch more than a minute or two, what did he say that offended Goodwin so much ?

Looks like he can box, but he definitely ain't good looking !

It's a shame he has been dropped by Goodwin.

I watched the interview and thought he came across as a real idiot but he is a young lad who obviously needs a bit of guidance, and quite clearly doesn't have a very good team around him. Without wanting to go too in depth, arrogance often comes from a place of insecurity.

I hope he learns from this, and still goes on to have a career in boxing.

I'll second that, Jason - if you can't be a dick when you're young when can you be?

Erm pretty much, I'm an amazing boxer, blokes want to be me, women want a bit of me, I'm so fit, I'm a great boxer, why didn't you interview me before Kugan, you got a problem with good looking Asians? I'm so fit. Repeated x100

Nothing really that offensive, just a classic wally in front of a camera was my thinking.

As good an interview as it was I missed who he was saying had no fans and that he would beat right now....but had actually lost to a few times in the amateurs so can someone enlighten me?

Ahhhh ok, yeah remember him turning pro as think it was on the o2 show that I was at. Completely missed the name on the clip - too busy trying to "like" Prince Patel's facebook page obviously, and couldn't think who at Matchroom he was talking about. Thought at first it was Kal Yafai but now thinking about it I think they are different weights anyway.
