Yeah would be a bit harsh on Craig seen as it was his first post :D Yeah i agree Mayweather is getting a bit tiresome, more fighting and less talking needed if you ask me. I don't understand why relatively active fighters suddenly go down to 1 or 2 fights a year when they hit the big time.

I was going to say. One post...

Mayweather's a mouthy gimp. He's not had a quote in the papers for days because his Judah fight's gone tits up so he needs to get some attention.

Of that lot, only Wright is worth anything. Judah's got his own stuff to sort out with a light-punching fringe contender and the prospect of DLH getting the gloves back on is as appealing a Jodie Marsh's nose.

I have no high opinion of the content that that website publishes / generates.

Mayweather's held to different standards. This is for two reasons:
Firstly, there's a distinct impression that he really is as good as he looks, which is potentially damn special
Secondly, lots of people talk a good game. Mayweather's spoken game is unbelievable. It's not in the James Toney league but when it comes to picking names out of the air and complaining that you've tried to make fights with every world champion and a gorilla, it gets a little tiresome...

Mayweather was one the verge of stepping back out of mediocre (or so I thought) with Judah, but he needs Hatton really, really badly now. Margarito might do, Cotto (for people who see him as a champion and not a prospect getting rocked by all and sundry) might suffice, but realistically now that Judah's been exposed (again) Mayweather has to have Hatton all over his mirrors.

J, I'm totally in agreement with you. I do think the guy has more talent in his arse cheeks than most boxers have in their entire body, but I just want to see him use it against someone who he can't routinely out-speed and who might put some pressure on him. The first Castillo fight was a good one, he was lucky to get away with that. Fair play for him to taking the rematch but real class works out an opponent during a fight, not in the intervening months. Azumah Nelson's an absolute case in point, and Mayweather's evidently of the opinion that he should be held in Nelson's class.

You make a good point J, he has been fighting some suspect opposition but he always looks so good against whoever he faces. Gatti, Castillo (twice), N'dou etc still isn't the worst list in the world. It's a shame because his wins over the likes of Genaro Hernandez, Diego Corrales and Angel Manfredy reminds us what this kid has in the locker. He really needs the big fights now while he is in his prime, who cares if Judah did lose to Baldomir, get them in the ring anyway and let's see what happens. When Floyd agrees to a fight these days without ruining i with excessive demands it should be embraced.

Well he was fighting Judah next but thats gone tits up (hardly his fault), he couldn't really fight Zoo because of the networks, he wanted Hatton as his first fight at 140 (instead of Corley) - it wasn't considered an option by Team Hatton, he offered Hatton a fight in Nov 2005 but Hatton wanted an easy fight after beating Zoo, he did turn down Harris - but there was no money in that. Cottos avoiding top5 fighters so he won't fight Mayweather.

Who exactly did you want Mayweather to fight? Hes fighting for the glory and money after dominating 130/135 and Margarito/Witter don't bring that. People are harder on Mayweather than anyone else - if Zoo beat Gatti then Shamba after his lay off people would be raving about it. They were top5 fighters at 140 as long as 1year ago and each has had good wins/performances.

I hope Hatton-Mayweather unification happens next - but Hattons afraid to lose his 0

I think Mayweather must love boxing, to have mastered it and become a gym rat and I think it'll be hard to give up boxing for him, especially after 3 fights. Everything Mayweather says to the media is manipulation - 6days ago he was trash talking Judah - the other day he called Judah to comfort/support him. Saying hes only got 3fights left makes those fights higher profile (worth more) and puts him in the papers. Mayweather should be a superstar - hes a 3weight champ, already a great and in the mainstream hes a nobody.

not strictly true, hatton would fight mayweather but only if it was in england .

PBF wont fight in england and thats fine and understandable but equally so hatton has to be given leniency to settle a decent base in the USA and be comfortable there hence he turnd the fight down.

I don think that is unreasonable given th gravitas assocaited with this fight.

hence he ios looking to have next 3 fights in the US culmanating with a fight against PBF.

Secondly people are hard on floyd cos he is such a big mouthed c*nt.

if he didnt shout his gob off at every opportuinity then folk wouldnt expect so much.

Fact is he hasnt fought a top world class operator since castillo who is a better fighter now than he was then I hasten to add.

Don't often disagree with you J - PBF is the best fighter in the sport, he beat gatti (a lot of people picked Gatti to win), thw win over Ndou was sparkling and generally PBF is regarded as No 1 PfP

PS. Calzaghe will be 1 pfp next year lol

no robs mate im just pointing out that his skills far outweigh who he has been testing them against . Ndou is a top ten gatekeeper come on as is corley, bruselles shodnnt have been in the ring with inm and gatti never was stellar (stellaer fighters dont lose to the likes fo mickey ward tough sob tho he is) and he is looked very old and shopworn.

i dont want hatton to fight gatti next either for the record.

we all know hatton is the biggest fight out there right now for PBF after last weekends results and turn it down to fight an old de la hoya and an exposed Zab is (ok thats too soon) but certianly to quote Oscar as an opponent instead of the man who beat the man in your division is just pure bullshit in my opinion.

if i were hatton id g o for cotto next and fornicate pbf. bloke plays more games than a professional poker player.

I want to see Hatton-PBF more than any other fight. When was the last time a world class P4P European fought a World Class P4P American 1-2 in a division? Maybe Lennox-Holyfield? It doesn't usually happen - Jones didn't fight the best Euros - DM, Benn, Eubank - Toney didn't until he fought Jirov when he was coming out the boxing wilderness. Putting a top european against a top American is very difficult business wise.

PBF likes the sound of his own voice, so he might just have been spouting off to Ishe. I wish Hatton would get in the ring with Floyd sooner rather than later. Even IF Ricky loses to PBF he is still a BIG name and if he beats him hes a legend.

I want to see Hatton-PBF fight more than any other in World boxing and I don't like the way that Ricky is saying that he wants 2-3 more fights before it happens, you can guarentee that something will come along to put a spanner in the works especially if hes fighting the likes Corrales, Castillo, Cotto etc
