Poach was more fun wording than a fact cuz I'm not really suggesting RN was trying to get rid of Al by signing Al's guys. In fact I've openly admitted I got no clue wtf RN was trying to do cuz it makes no sense to me.fergusg wrote: From what I recall, Roc Nation’s seemingly generous offers to Al Haymon fighters like Adrien Broner, Keith Thurman, Deontay Wilder and Peter Quillin have all been turned down… and all they wanted to do was to promote these fighters.
I don’t recall there being any evidence suggesting that these offers came with a stipulation that they had to drop Al Haymon as their “advisor”.
So it seems to me that Roc Nation seemed to attempt to poach Golden Boy fighters rather than Al Haymon fighters, as strange as it seems now that all the aforementioned guys have left Oscar’s company.
That being said, it seems that Al Haymon has no intention of assisting Roc Nations entrance into the sport of boxing, unless he’s allowed to call the shots (especially after the Beyonce fraudulent accusations debacle).
From what I can see Al prefers to keep his fighters promotionally liquid so to speak. He likes to be able to have them unaffiliated contractually or at least become affiliated via handshakes rather than purse bids. There in lies the problem with trying to send offers to Al's guys for any promoter & why its not a fruitful enterprise.
Tbqh it wouldn't surprise me entirely to learn RN was unaware of their affiliation with Al cuz they've seemed to be largely walking around with a big wallet bumping into sh!t during their short run in pro boxing, but that would be a hell of a coincidence I'll admit.
Who has RN signed that was with Oscar? I know he's signed several smaller guys at this point, but so far its the Andre, Miguel & Dusty show.
