So all of them belt-out a song in same key. One of them is bent on flat D.....e.g. Katsidis v Rafol 59/55
I suspect it's same opera supremo that scored number of 10/8 rounds in recent times, although no knockdowns.

The heading for this subject is misleading because a judge who is willing to give a 10/8 round without a knockdown could be commended.

Assuming the winner of the round was dominating by a large margin then a 10/8 is correct. From a health and safety point of view rewarding clear dominance is logical.

By extension if you could not score a round 10/8 without a knockdown then how could a referee stop a bout without a knockdown? There are no questions about the referee stepping in to end a bout as being reasonable.

Defining dominance is more subjective, however, if the referee is looking closely at stopping the bout because boxer "A" is copping punishment throughout a round without landing anything effective themselves, but, due to a fighting spirit and innate toughness does not go down 10/8 to boxer "B" for the round is justified. In fact 10/9 would not be a fair reward for boxer "B" given the punches scored in the round.

This is a general opinion as I do not know of the specific 10/8 round you are referring to in this thread but found the notion interesting and hope others more qualified than I might add tot he discussion. Possibly changing the thread title to "when is a 10/8 round justified" might be a good start.

Good post Scotty. I was of the thinking rounds could be scored 10/8 based on dominance, but without a knockdown, but thought I'd sit tight and not demonstrate my ignorance.

It appears Victoria has no scoring system. Each judge has his own.
