Gutted for Saunders and Dave Ryan but I'm over the moon that Dundee's Jamie Wilson is topping the bill against Anthony Nelson for the vacant Commonwealth Super Flyweight title

I'd never of thought I would see the day a Dundonian would fight for a major title :yay:

Surely gotta be the worst card Hearn had produced since the exclusive deal. Two unknowns in the main event, AJ without an opponent and obviously will be just fighting a can (there was doubts he was going to be on at all so will be matched soft). Travis in a tune up which should have been on the local Dunstan show instead and JLD-Simmons which looked decent a year ago, but JLD has lost twice in a row now and was put down twice against Courtney Fry last time out and is pretty much done.

Oh, and i was meant to be going to this shit. :OhYes:

Can see it being cancelled, there's no headline fight left on the bill.

Why does Joshua not have an opponent with only 11 days to go?

I wasn't sure what show his warm up fight was going to be on. Maybe he was moved from another show.

Is there any chance that he fights someone even slightly interesting?

Same here. Very nearly bought a ticket a month or so back! Last time I was at this venue was for Khan v Salita and was a good night out (apart from Salita being feckin hopeless).

very poor card now

the leeds one and brum one (although to be fair thats a bit away might change) both look poor too.

I thought when we went from Fridays every week to Saturdays every so often the cards were meant to be a lot better. These cards are no better (worse than a lot) than the old Friday Fight Night cards

I agree mate - there is a distinct Friday Night Fights vibe about this card now.

Matchroom haven't produced much worth shouting about so far this year.

And when they do it seems destined for pay per view!

Should be a Pay-Per-View. Cards of this nature wouldn't be possible otherwise. Too many big names to pay for. Etc....

I assumed the new matchroom deal with Adam Smith @ Sky was that there would no longer be a main event on all their shows, unless it's PPV ?

Jeff's time to shine. A quality amateur who never got coverage because he's not from the south(and.beat popular club's kid's while winning titles.

This really is the worst card Hearn has put on since his exclusive deal. It's even worse than the Barker-Rotolo card and the recent Hull one.

They have been saved by picking up the Stevenson card which is a daytime one in Canada so runs at the same time as Newcastle so they are doing joint coverage and that will save their embarrassment of having 2 unknown super flyweights in the co main event who have never been on TV before and had 14 fights between them. I would laugh if i wasn't going to this shit :OhYes:

Anthony Joshua is fighting Jason Gavern on the card I believe, it could have been a lot worse at this late stage

He's okay at late notice. Although I don't see why the opponent had to come in at late notice in the first place.

I have only followed boxing closely for about 3-4 years, but this could well be the worst card (on paper) I have seen

I'm going with a mate and I'm sure it'll still be a decent night out... but it's a shocking card. From Eddie Hearn's tone on the IFL vid you can see he knows it as well. What an introduction from Matchroom to the North East! No idea why Stephen Smith wasn't added to the Newcastle bill... even before Saunders pulled out it undoubtedly needed his name more than the Sheffield card did.

Having said all that, I'm glad it's still going ahead. Would rather have an average night of boxing to go to than no boxing at all. :box:
