Wanna give a elderly hardcore boxing fan a stroke? Show him the abc belt rankings & argue with him how much sense they make. Mfer be dead in 45 mins tops.
Re: Andre Dirrell v James DeGale
You dont get what? Have you seen Dirrell fight? He's uh, pretty damn good. Gonna argue about belt rankings, you can find about 400 fighters over-ranked who dont have anywhere near Dirrell's ability. Barking up the wrong tree here. Or are you just British?Switch hitter wrote:I dont get why Dirrell that highly rated....dont get me wrong he is a good fighter but not like most make out on here. His recent opposition aint been great and as Degale travels well and boxed better opponents recently i think he will win a scrappy fight on points

Dirrell is going to school this kid.
Most people seem to understand that except for residents of a certain island in the Atlantic.
Great matchup though. Really hyped to see this one.

Gotta love the current scene. Where your opinion only counts if you're an American. USA! USA! USA!

I beleave Dirrells handspeed will be a major shock to james though.
Re: Andre Dirrell v James DeGale
So you think he is going to win every round obviously, so do you want to bet James wins more then 2 rounds?BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Dirrell is going to school this kid.

Dirrel running, followed by som acting rounded off with some crying type of decision...
Re: Andre Dirrell v James DeGale
Sorry to bump it up but the fight is getting closer.
I noticed a slight shift in the odds toward Andre Dirrell, but it still remains a pick em fight.
I'm not trying to sway opinion but one thing that has stuck in my mind ever since this fight was first spoken about was that Andre Dirrell may not have improved upon his early successes against Froch and Abraham, it does seem like a long time ago now.
They were over 5 years ago around the age of 26 and not 31, it's possible if James DeGale pressures him enough the time will expose Andre's misgivings.

Re: Andre Dirrell v James DeGale
That Dirrell that fought Froch would cruise to a one sided points victory over De Gale. However, Dirrell now has slowed up a lot, much slower on his feet and takes far more punches. He also has shown himself to be gutless (and I rarely, if ever, use that term to describe a boxer) and his character is very questionable. I would make him favourite to win a close points decision but it wont be a mismatch at all.
Re: Andre Dirrell v James DeGale
This will not be a classic, although I like both boxers. It will be a technically sound battle, and I think Degale will take it by a couple.

I'd favor the Dirrell from the Super Six, but now i don't know. Its about 50/50 i guess. The better man should win!

At 168, there's Ward and Dirrell, and then everyone else.digzee wrote:So you think he is going to win every round obviously, so do you want to bet James wins more then 2 rounds?BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Dirrell is going to school this kid.

I gave Froch 3 (maybe 4 rounds) against Dirrell, simply outclassed. Andre has been fighting/taking chances a little more against bums, but in a big match against a guy with some skill and pop, he'll go back to boxing. Degale is on Groves level, who is slightly below Froch's level. None of those guys can box with Dirrell.
This might be a shut out, or 10-2 the closest. Degale simply isn't good enough ... but try telling that to British boxing fans.
Re: Andre Dirrell v James DeGale
Ok, so you think James will be lucky to win 2 rounds... Lets bet, so if James is given 3 rounds or more on at least 2 of the judges cards you must donate $100 to a certain charity I donate monthly to, but if he doesn't I'll send you (via PayPal) $150, deal?BAD INTENTIONS wrote:At 168, there's Ward and Dirrell, and then everyone else.digzee wrote:So you think he is going to win every round obviously, so do you want to bet James wins more then 2 rounds?BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Dirrell is going to school this kid.

My man, my opinion is just my opinion. It does not need to be justified by money. Yours may be worth $150, mines is worthless.digzee wrote:Ok, so you think James will be lucky to win 2 rounds... DeGale/Groves are not on Dirrell's level. That's my opinion and we'll see if I'm right or wrong.

What can I say... we like to back our own. But no one is thinking this is an easy win for Degale. A lot over here slightly favour DirrellBAD INTENTIONS wrote:At 168, there's Ward and Dirrell, and then everyone else.digzee wrote:So you think he is going to win every round obviously, so do you want to bet James wins more then 2 rounds?BAD INTENTIONS wrote:Dirrell is going to school this kid.

Re: Andre Dirrell v James DeGale
One thing is for sure, in my opinion, this will not be an easy fight for Dirrell. If you have watched his last couple of fights and have that opinion, then you must have a higher opinion of Andre than I certainly do. I think he is a good boxer, there is no doubt about that, but I think Degale has stepped up a level in the last year and will take it.
Re: Andre Dirrell v James DeGale
I think Degale will win this one quite easily. There's always the possibility of some really bad scoring, but Degale is almost certainly the hungrier fighter and is much stronger - mentally and physically.

fergusg wrote:Warriors Boxing Promotions (working with Al Haymon) submitted a monstrous $3.1m bid for the rights to promote the James DeGale vs. Andre Dirrell fight. They bid $995K more than Matchroom Sport did.
To put things into perspective on how big this purse bid really was, DeGale & Dirrell will split the $3.1m down the middle, which means that both fighters will earn $1.55m for this fight… and this is more than 72% greater than Gennady Golovkin’s career high purse (the $900K he earned for the Rubio bout).
It’s clear that Haymon and Warriors Promotions wanted to give their man the home-town advantage for what will almost certainly be a closely competitive affair, as the betting odds suggest it’s a “pick’em” type fight.
Therefore, I’m guessing that Dirrell will capture the vacant IBF super middleweight world title by scoring a close decision victory, because any evenly contested rounds will probably be awarded to the home-town fighter.
I could be wrong about this… and I really do hope that I am.
Your probably right mate. Degale is going to have to go above and beyond to win this fight.
It's a tough fight for him anyway with Dirrell's footspeed and ability to box on the outside, nevermind with a biased referee/judges.
We saw on Saturday how biased officiating can make it difficult for the away fighter with the Burns - Figeroa fight. I hope there are neutral officials and we get a good clean fight.

Re: Andre Dirrell v James DeGale
Dirrell has shown a lack of bottle before. Great talent though when he choses to fight.
I expect him to win this, but even if he looks like losing a tight on, the hometown cooking will make sure he wins.
I hope Degale wins, but he'll have to win wide or byKO to get a result in the US of A. Can't see him doing either.
Hope that Ref Cole is not involved. That backwood daddy's boy was all over Burns like a cheap suit. Only in Texas....

Saw the weigh in.
Not to quote a previous DeGale but Andre Dirrell looked gassed.
