Garcia v Peterson 147?????????

I did a topic on Garcia v Crawford recently thinking it was a legitimate fight to a possible heads off .. however I have just been informed by a knowledgeable elder that Garcia has already left 140 ... I chuckled to myself at first and thought 'Finally' the day has arrived someone knows less than me on boxrec" so armed with the pending invitation into the BOXREC hall of Fame for services to Boxing knowledge and my reply of you forgotten that Garcia is fighting Peterson

However after quickly checking it seems as they are fighting @147 ..., can they really sanction a fight that is effectively in the next weight division? regardless of both fighters agreeing the weight..

So what is this fight about then? Garcia winning an IBF title then vacating ? if it's for money then surely the sensible money spinner is the unification. or is it just practice for DG @ 147 for a fight already lined up this year? or is it a tactical duck not to fight TC

Good fight though! Peterson seems to be a good boxer as long as he doesn't take huge punches like he did vs Matthysse.

I guess if I had to predict, it would be Peterson winning by split decision, or Garcia winning by KO. Garcia could win a decision too, as he is one that always finds a way to win. He is smarter than people give him credit for.

when I first heard of the fight between Garcia and LP, I thought DG was going to attempt to unify the div with his last fight @140 with TC ... alas another boxing let down

see this is why I am confused because this fight is just a fraction of what DG could earn, and a bit of warm up fight. Surely the smart move and the big bucks is attempting to do what is hardly ever done and unifying the 140 div.

if DG is frightened of losing his 'o' then I have some bad news for him hes not in that bracket of elite fighters who have the ridiculous boxing talent with a dash of luck to fight their entire careers without losing. every world class boxer will have their weakness you lose a fight if you are intelligent enough you may have just found a weakness. ( an example il use is VLAd, a weakness a glass chin he had to change the way he fought so thats why he fights like an octopus and holds)
it would be one more fight for DG @140. So what if he loses to TC, he would have lost nothing but fatter wallet the respect of most of the boxing fraternity for trying to unify and a pointer of a learning curve. plus he still has the edge over TC with that power @ '140, he wont have luxury when everyone else hits like donkeys @147

bollocks ive never sounded good then and made so much sense alas with the wrong facts Sorry but I was under the impression you needed all the belts to unify any division... so to unify you need a majority of belts?


not meaning to be confrontation but i do not see this as a good fight mate DG is a much better boxer and will win convincingly. as LP flatters to deceive for me he is the weakest WC. LP best win was against khan and that ended in controversy . harsh at this sounds but LP is no more than a gate keeper who has taken a belt hostage by fighting puffed up record fighters and average fighters. he and the IBF have cheapen the belt.
This was also made alamring clear when fought Lucas he looked frightened and out of his depth . sorry for attirude but I lack compassion with cheats..

The whole cheat thing was blown out a little, reason why he wasnt stripped. Also to be unified u do need all the belts so but u gotta get the title from lp anyways. I think garcia is more interested in welter than unifying the jw division. Outside of Mattyse at jw who us better than peterson. Crawford wasnt gonna take the fight, provo is fighting mattyse. This is a solid fight, not a great one.

Also styles make fights garcia moved and picked mattyse off whereas peterson likes to grind on the inside so he was there to get drilled by mattyse.

The IBF did not follow the more extensive screening instead opting for basic screen data. however the WBA stripped their belt choosing to follow the second more extensive test. sorry fella but you either take enhancement drugs or you don't, it doesn't leave much middle ground. LP maintains his explanation that they didn't enhance his performance, just like we all believe we are better drivers when we are drunk.

maybe Crawford would not have taken the fight so soon as he needs to grow into the 140, he will mop up the 140 which is looking a bit sorry for talent.

the lucas and prov fight wil not go the distance its who will knock out who.

It was said if lp gave the heads up on the test pellots it would not have been a problem. The problem came when he tested positive and he didnt let know ahead of time.

why did TC refuse the DG fight? i think TC wins but hey hey ho thought Gonzalez was going to win tonight.


with the peterson debate i will change my stance slightly and say he was of an idiot than a cheat,

I dont think TC flat out turned down a fight with DG, TC and his team wanted a warm up in his new division.
