I suspect that many people will now argue that Russell would beat Loma in a rematch, even though he didn't do much different in this fight.
I would have to say that Gonzalez' credentials are stronger than Salido's plus Orlando is a year older than Gonzo. Plus Russell did way better vs Gonzo than Loma did vs Salido.
So based on this performance vs Gonzalez, I think Russell has clearly earned a rematch with Lomachenko and even think it's a winnable fight for Gary, especially if he can adjust based on what he learned in the 1st bout with Loma.
Why are you comparing Loma's fight with Salido to GR's fight with Gonz, who has a significantly different style than Salido, rather than comparing their fight with each other? I don't see what GR did tonight that Loma didn't already deal with when he fought Russell (he already dealt with the speed, took the power without bother, etc.), and to me it seems like a case of catching an inconsistent guy at the right time.
I'd much rather see them fight other top opponents for now.

To be honest, I dont see anyone beating Walters at 126, Loma & Russell included.
Walters should undoubtedly be be seen as a division number one at this time. However Lomachenkos movement and angles will give him lots of problems. He is not Donaire or Darchinian to slag with him. I am not entirely sure he can pin Loma down to deliver his power.
Walters only has the one standout victory against a past his best Donaire. It can pay not to get too carried away by something like that.
As for Russell, very good, but Gonzalez was that slow you could've put a punch bag in the ring and you wouldn't have seen much difference. You can see why he has nine defeats on his record.
Russell's Ko percentage isn't that hight because in lot of his fights he didn't go for KO, cruising to easy decision wins. Plus he is a natural counterpuncher and some of his opponents were in defensive mode which made it hard for him to land KO blows.
Russell is really talented guy. He didn't look good against Lomachenko beacuse Lomachenko is THAT good. I think Russell is clearly top-3 fighter in his division. I rank him just behind Lomachenko and Walters.

Really, Walters looked lost against darchinian for a lot of the fight and vic looked terrible, I personally think Loma will tear him a new one easier than the fight against russell
