Re: Amir Khan feels "disrespected"
Here we go again,Khan not wanting to give him a payday, even though he wants to shut him up.it's a good job that all fighters don't think the same as that bellend.
Re: Amir Khan feels "disrespected"
Amir Khan is a muppet. He may be a bigger name than Brook, but Brook has a title and can probably negotiate other fights should he wish. And with hype machine Eddie Hearn behing him, he'll probably start making decent money now, whoever he fights.
Amir seems to be treading water a bit a the minute. Whilst Floyd and Pac are fighting each other, Khan is sat around bellyaching that he wants to fight the winner. I'm sure he does, but that fight is signed and more than a month away. And besides, Floyd isn't exactly in a rush to fight Khan, even if he does beat Pac.
What other fights are out there for Khan? Bugger all, really. An all British fight, with a title on the line would make both men a lot of money. It's a fight a lot of people want to see.

Got no fight announced, can't fight Mayweather, can't fight Manny.
Millions of pounds, Wembley arena, a world title.
Says no.
Now the only reason I can think of, is he's got a nailed on fight with Floyd or Manny next (unless they draw) and needs to keep looking good on American tv. I think Haymon is using his new terrestrial platform to boost the profile of all his stable , maybe Khan is on that against Algieri in a double header with Broner to build interest in that too. Or maybe against Broner.

Interesting that out of the fighters Khan has listed that Brook needs to beat, he has only faced one of them and was ran very close.
Seems very bizarre from Khan especially with Brook having the title and a growing reputation

Re: Amir Khan feels "disrespected"
Khan certainly isn't the sharpest tool in the box. Though he is definitely a tool.
Shame as with his recent performances and reduced verbal diarrhea I think he was winning people over.
If he ends up getting the Cotto fight next fair play but otherwise he's an absolute fool for not taking the Brook fight next.

Re: Amir Khan feels "disrespected"
Khan wants to have the same level of popularity as Ricky Hatton. He's constantly whining that people don't like him.
Re: Amir Khan feels "disrespected"
Why is he so obsessed with being a star in the US when the country that raised him can provide him with the biggest pay day, biggest attendance, biggest viewing figures and best atmosphere of his career!?
Re: Amir Khan feels "disrespected"
It would be far more sensible to talk up a fight with Brook, huge fight in monetary terms, title and bragging rights, and, I think, eminently winnable for him.

I've never really got this yet? Is it the exchange rate that is confusing him because i'm sure Hatton/Calzaghe and even himself early on was making more money fighting over here than he is against the likes of Collazo, Alexander and a few of the others he's fought recently.danamba7 wrote:Why is he so obsessed with being a star in the US when the country that raised him can provide him with the biggest pay day, biggest attendance, biggest viewing figures and best atmosphere of his career!?
This is another reason for him not being as popular as he thinks he should be
Re: Amir Khan feels "disrespected"
Exactly. There seems to be this feeling that you have to make it in the states to make the big money but the UK produces some of the biggest nights in boxing. If you have a fan base and a domestic rival, you have the potential to make very impressive pay days here.freddydoesdallas wrote:I've never really got this yet? Re: Amir Khan feels "disrespected"
It is hard to say that Khan's bottle has gone, because he does seem to get in there with anyone, and has come through fights when he has been badly hurt, and found a way to win, so I can't doubt his heart. I do wonder though, if the risk of losing to an english rival frightens him a little.
It could be a wise move for Khan sidestepping Brook, though, because I can't see Brook not hitting Khan in 12 rounds, and if he hits Khan, he will knock him out.
For the sake of boxing, it will be a shame if it doesn't happen.I always felt that Hatton-Witter not happening was a massive opportunity lost.Khan seems to want to return to those days. It makes me respect Froch even more for giving Groves a rematch, when he didn't have to. The end result was 80,000 sellout and national and international interest, which is a really positive thing for the sports. Lots of matres and workmates, who hadn't been to a fight before went to that.

Sometimes but not always surely. Didn't Khan headline at the MGM against Alexander? He'd make 5 x that his purse against Brook in the UK.Terry Dooley wrote:

Re: Amir Khan feels "disrespected"
Who really makes the huge purses fighting in Vegas though? Khan isn't going to bring floods of fans who will hammer the town like the crowds who went out for Hatton. He's not a massive name who will get Americans to leave their towns to get a weekend in Vegas and people generally won't change their habits to watch him.
He's an exciting fighter to watch but his purses have been rumoured to be around $1-2m and even in a best case scenario against Mayweather or Pacquiao next time out he's not in a position to be making purse demands. He would make more against Brook as he will get a bigger share of the total income

Re: Amir Khan feels "disrespected"
And there's more money to be made against Mayweather/Pacquiao than there is against Brook. Why risk that by fighting Brook? Very difficult to match the TV and casino money in America over here, the Brook fight could, but Brook doesn't really do anything for him in America and there's enough big money fights over there to keep him happy until he gets something big. Realistically there's no possibility of him fighting Brook this year, unless they do it indoors in October, the stabbing and the return being pushed back 3 weeks from March 7th have pretty much ruled it out.danamba7 wrote:Sometimes but not always surely. Amir doesn't make any of the decisions, it is his team.
I have no doubt he would step in the ring with Brook. But his handlers call the shots.

It would be interesting to know what the Showtime broadcasters/commentary team thought about Kell Brook's performance and win? Being broadcast by them, coupled with an away win against Porter, has got to put him in the picture, surely?

I'm not being funny but Khan being a Muslim and therefore a non-drinker unlike what Ricky Hatton was and the average man in the boozer, people cannot relate to Khan like they did Ricky, so they aren't going to descend en masse to Vegas for a p1ss up.
I received a few of the Hatton dvd's for Chrimbo back when Ricky was at the height of his popularity and in it him and his family members were keen to stress that Ricky would buy you a pint and chat with you in the battle cruiser, whereas Khan would probably meet you for Friday prayers at the mosque.
Or am I way off the mark here? :??![[icon_e_confused.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif)

If he fights Brook and loses. game over
If he fights Pac/FM and loses well, can still fight Brook

Yes he did. He was mandated. Froch tried his best to make sure that rematch didn't happenbig lennox wrote:It is hard to say that Khan's bottle has gone, because he does seem to get in there with anyone, and has come through fights when he has been badly hurt, and found a way to win, so I can't doubt his heart. Re: Amir Khan feels "disrespected"
Khan has had everythin handed to him on a plate since athens,he gets to commonwealth ttle fightin blown up 9st4 fighters and gettin dropped in the process ,gets blown away by prescott then gets a wba title shot?? Then fights salita in one of if not his first defence avoiding maidana then fights maidana and barely made it out of the 12th round, fought an old judah and fair enuff beats him, talks the talk about what he is gonna do to garcia and gets his block knocked right off, looks like he just walkes out the pub on ref cam ha. I dont rate him never have and never will, brook has done everythin on his own with no helping hands to get him ther so imo brook should tell khan that he isnt giving khan the payday. Tell khan to fight rios broner then porter and if he gets through these fights then they can sit down and talk about the fight. Brook ahould make his own path for his legacy and leave khan with his head in the clouds, khan thinks he is in the elite fighters in the world,he does my head in
