Khan knows he will lose and get knocked out, which means 2 things, he losses to his bitter rival and no future FMJ/Pac fight.

Boxing is a business and boxers only have a short shelf life like, so they will tend to follow the pound note and right now for Khan it is in the US . look at Hopkins, he chose to fight in the US against lesser fighters rather than fight Calzaghe because he got he was paid more.

Khan v brook is a great fight but will only appeal to the UK. it needs time to mature for probably another 18 months, to get more belts and feuding, that sells fights.

so fighting kell atm is not the best option.

Khan calls out too many fighters, he needs to focus on trying to embarress 1 into fighting him, all the top fighter know he will call out someone else 2 days after he called them out

Looked like a mismatch and it was clear Dan was out of his depth very early.
Kell Brook looked ok, his leg didn't appear to be a problem and his all round performance was positive.
The Khan fight makes sense unless Khan has anything up his sleeve, I'd like to see it.

I thought Brook left himself open at times. That may have been something to do with not respecting what his opponent had to offer, admittedly, but he won't get away with that against a top class boxer.

Impressive enough, but Dan was levels below.

Common consensus in the UK is that although khan has plenty of speed and movement, kell could easily KO him if he lands. Thats why khan doesn't want it. Its too risky vs a fighter who is fairly unknown in the U.S given his position in the division. Brooks real strength is his timing and khan is definitely hittable.

To be fair, most people could K.O. Khan if they land. We all know that, that's what makes Khan an attraction in a way. Khan is a good boxer and improving all the time. He has a chance against anyone but we all know one punch and Amir can be gone ... just like that!

Amir wants fights against offensively limited fighters, unless their name is Floyd or Manny.

I guess the way he sees it is, if he loses to one of these two then it's acceptable and he would probably still have the Brook fight to fall back on. If he loses to Brook then it's going to be hard for him to get back to the level he sees himself at right now

Khan has apparently turned down a chance to fight Brook again. Brook wants June 13th in the UK vs Khan. Khan says he didn't think he could fight on that date, even though he has no opponent for the end of May. Khan also says he is the only boxer that never says no to any fight. (maybe he has his fingers crossed behind his back when he says that?) He wants Mayweather or Pacquiao, or fights on that level, not Brook. Guess that kind of narrows the field of potential opponents. Broner wants to fight Khan on June 6th. Probably see Khan vs Algieri next. :OhYes:

Khan's ego is to big to fight Brook. The money isn't an issue for Khan. The problem is that Brook is only big in the UK. Khan wants to be an American superstar, which translate into a worldwide star, on par with Manny & Floyd. In his mind he thinks he already is. He'll fight Broner before he'll fight Brook, not because Broner is an easier fight, but because Broner is more popular in America. The UK is small potatoes to Khan.

Thats the feeling I get as well.

Idk Chris' alignment with TR is the only thing. If he's with TR I'd imagine making a fight vs PBC's (ie Al Haymon) Amir could be an issue.

Having said that I have lil belief Amir vs Kell will be happening in June if even this year. And having said that I don't hate Amir's chances regardless if he doesn't look all that excited to fight Kell. The Amir thats beaten Collazo & Alexander is gonna decision Kell unless he goes back to old Amir's ways & starts banging, & with Amir's box of rocks brain thats always gonna be a possibility.

50/60% of £12-£15m is more than 10% of £40m

I think Khan actually earns more fighting Brook than he does Floyd. Khan won't be making any sort of demands against Mayweather, he will just be sitting their like a good boy accepting whatever terms his told he would be getting.

'The UK is too small for Khan' is a convenient and frankly, total bullshit excuse. He isn't Lennox Lewis. He's trotted out the same line about Brook for years now and Brook has done more than enough now to meet 'Khans criteria'

Khan stands a good chance of victory against Kell, that's the weird thing. Blatantly obvious that he is just going to be treading water against carefully selected opponents until Mayweather and Manny retire after their two fights, having left Khan in limbo for the best part of his career most probably.

I totally agree. Its almost like he is doing the same thing to himself that he did with Alexander. Without something to bring to the table, he won't ever get a fight with Floyd or Pac. Shooting himself in the foot once again. He needs a big win at welter to prove himself. Collazo was washed up, and Alexander had already been exposed by Bradley and Porter. If I were Brook now, I would tell Khan to beat a legitimate top ranked welter first, then we can talk. Khan brings nothing to the table. Move on from him. The way it stands Brook will be the one getting the big fight instead of Khan.

Disagree with the first part. I think with the PPV cut Amir would definitely make more vs Floyd. Plus whoever ends up beating Floyd greatly enhances his rep & that'll bring untold notoriety & money that we can only speculate upon. So the overall upside with Floyd is huge & that'd be part of the reason to fight Floyd that'd be outside the numbers on your check.

I do agree Amir stands a good chance of beating Kell. I think he wins unless he gets caught up in fighting against his attributes which has usually been his downfall. For example, I still say he won vs Lamont, but he clearly spent far too much time fighting Lamont's fight that led to the L.

If Khan has been offered £5m to fight Brook then surely it's his biggest purse available as I can't see him earning near that for a Mayweather fight.

Maidana only picked up $5m for both fights and the 2nd purse was bigger than the first based on the first fight. Ortiz and Guerrero were rumoured to be on around $2m for their Floyd fights and Canelo was only 'guaranteed' $5m for his fight against Floyd and Khan is not as big a name as Canelo was at the time. Is Khan, who didn't even earn $1m for his last fight, such a big name that he can start dictating terms to Floyd? Of course not. He's no bigger than Ortiz or Guerrero and is clearly below someone like Canelo.

Of course, if he beats Floyd then he stands to earn some serious dough so maybe that's where he sees it as a something to hang about for. For what it's worth I can see Floyd fighting Many twice then both of them calling it a day. Where's that leave Khan then?

I think Amir is worth more then Marcos, Victor & Robert. He's not Miguel, Canelo or Manny money, but he's probably only below them outta the recent opposition. Plus I mean he did virtually nothing before beating Devon in the last couple years yet he somehow was in the running for Floyd. That alone says he's worth more than the Marcos' of the boxing world. And idr what Canelo or anyone else was guaranteed off the top of my head, but I know he took home more then $5M. Thats kinda how it works when you get a PPV cut & Amir would likely be on a similar guaranteed figure, but ultimately wind up with more than any other fight out there.

lol Amir is undoubtedly gonna be left holding his balls (& he probably already is cuz I suspect Manny & Floyd are done in May or next May if there is a rematch). That doesn't mean if you are in his position you do anything different up til a month or so ago just in case the opportunity presented itself. But I mean at this point with the landscape as it is I would say dick measuring paydays for Floyd & Kell fights doesn't even make sense. The move would seem to be Kell cuz imho Amir can't sit on his ass & still get the Floyd fight & thats surely the best option for him money & status wise. Keith is a better guy to have a W over, but unless Al really overpays I don't see Amir as making as much.

Khan was offered $5m to fight Brook, but that was just Hearn pulling figures out his arse in an interview.

They were guaranteed that, but with their cut of the PPV they'll have made more and Khan does well in the US because he's usually in exciting fights, so I think he could expect a bit more than Ortiz, Guerrero and Maidana got, especially with Haymon behind him and the additional interest in the winner of Mayweather-Pacquiao's next fight.

If he doesn't fight either, then he comes back over here and fights Brook, Brook needs him, so that fight will always be there, regardless of what happens with him fighting Mayweather/Pacquiao.

I'm not saying he has to fight Brook I just don't see why he can't be his next fight. Then again, I genuinely think neither Floyd or Manny are fighting anyone other than each other for the remainder of their careers. The first fight will be close enough to warrant a rematch, I have no doubt about that. I wouldn't be surprised to see Floyd just do enough in order form it to appear closer! Why risk another $60m+ payday? I expect at least two fights between them.

If either are willing to continue after then Canelo is probably back in the frame as the main contender again by that stage. He's the next big name and has been groomed for a while now.

Khan is right to keep his options open until the first fight is done but I can see him waffling on in his often deluded world long after the second fight is made about how he deserves it whilst preparing to fight another carefully selected opponent. It could be a dangerous game to play. A lot could depend on who Brook fights next. What happens if Eddie stumps up big dough for Marquez to travel over and Brook wins? Who's calling the shots then? Will Brook then say he ain't giving Khan the payday?

I rate Khan and just don't want to see him waste his career, or the best part of it ( never seen him look as good as he did last time out ) chasing what could well be a pipe dream. Why not get involved in genuine 50/50 fights now?

Like Nassim Hamed is saying, Khan/Brook in Wembley in the summer does 2x what Froch/Groves did.

It is now one of the hugest fights either guy can have.

I get Khan a little. If you have a chance to bed Halle Berry, you don't want her to find out you are messing with some chick on the block.

Pac, Floyd, and Cotto are Khan's Halle and he wants to be sure those are dead ends before any Brook fight.

But, IMO, if Khan really wanted to force the issue with those money guys, no better way to do it than a decisive victory over Brook or even Thurman.

He has got to risk it to force the big payday.

That's the one thing that isn't going to happen, Hearn won't do it unless he can make money, which would rule Marquez out if he chooses to fight again. Even if Brook beats Marquez, Khan's still the bigger name of the two, Olympic silver, plus all his fights on ITV will see to that.
