Rubbish card tonight from Matchroom

Some of the arena was curtained off & now Hearn is saying that he is a stadium fighter.

And they couldn't sell out the seats they had open, still a PPV fighter now though

Can any of you see ANY positives from the bill?

I personally didn't think its was great for the TV viewer as per my earlier post but it just seems like people concentrate on all the negative aspects of Hearns shows.

Can everyone lighten up a bit and be proud we have a world champ still??

I don't think that anybody has been negative about Kell or his performance ?

So, do you think that it was a good card then ?

Edwards, Yousaf, Gill and Wood not particularly noteworthy. Stephen Smith back in a 6 rounder against a journeyman, has another one next week. Yafai beat a light flyweight. Gavin bored everyone senseless again. McDonnell is now European champion, but beat a very poor opponent and isn't close to being the best fighter in Britain at the weight, let alone Europe. Etches was flattened by Khomitsky. Brook beat a badly overmatched mandatory challenger to hold onto his title.

Not seeing any real positives there, nor any major negatives either, wasn't a great show, just average all round.

I don't think that anybody has been negative about Kell or his performance ?

No don't get me wrong, as I have said before I don't think it was a great card but everyone seems to concentrate on the bad rather than the good.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I agree with that but it just seems to me that everyone (or a lot) go for the throat all the time.

All in all, not a great nights viewing and I admit that in my earlier posts. The point I'm making is that you can be constructive with it rather than constantly pulling things down all the time. (not you, just in general)

I just want everyone to get behind boxing in general to be honest because its hard enough as it is.

Why do promoters and TV say it's a sellout when it's not? Don't get me wrong, it was very busy and a great trouble free atmosphere, but there was a few thousand seats curtained off, and people outside Bramall Lane on the day handing out flyers! Great crowd, but not a sell out. Surely if everyone is saying it is it stops "the walk up"?.

That's fair enough mate..i agree it wasn't great, I'm just fed up of negativity in general.....

Its all ifs and buts.....MacDonnell could have been explosive and taken the guy out...he didn't...Gavin....well, I don't know what to say...he could/should have also taken the guy out and made a statement...he didn't, Etches....again, if he had made good on his potential he could have made a massive statement...he didn't.

It COULD have been a good night is all I mean...it wasn't....that's it. but I still look forward to future events because you know what....you never know when that next FOTY will happen.

Makes it sound bigger when they call it a sellout. Like when they said Froch-Groves 2 sold out Wembley, it didn't, but when people heard that it got them interested.

How many tickets would they sell for someone like Marquez 15-20k maybe less ? I did think Saturdays show would of sold better than it did.

Wasn't the worse card i've seen but matchroom do seem to be letting it slip. Winds me up how they announce it's a sell out, it clearly wasn't, you could get tickets on the door, yes 9k is a decent number for not a great card but Brook is only stadium and ppv against certain names that are at the moment much bigger than him. I think it'll be Brook vs Rios in the summer sadly and it wouldn't surprise me if it's ppv with Quigg vs Donaire and Bellew vs Hernadez on the undercard.

As for Brook, looked like no effects and he's proving himself to be 1 hell of a fighter.

I'm convinced it'd do more than that. Fighting someone like Marquez in a stadium instantly turns it into an 'event' rather than just another fight in the eyes of Joe Public. That's not to mention boxing fans jumping at the chance to see Marquez fight in this country, I know I'd make the trip down.

Yeah sold out directly to the secondary market so that Matchroom could create a false sense of the ticket demand.

You are right though only tickets that weren't officially sold were very limited tickets with coach packages.

They had 80,000 in, Wembley holds 90,000.

I think they actually had about 78k but in all fairness the local council/police etc limited it to 80,000 and under that agreement 50% of the that last batch could only be sold with coach packages. It was only those that didn't sell out.
