Seeing as there's a Dundonian fighting top of the bill for a major title,I feel this is Sky's best show ever and am just grateful for the fact I'm not being charged nearly 18 quid for the pleasure

I have only followed boxing closely for about 3-4 years, but this could well be the worst card (on paper) I have seen

Without doubt Hearn's worst show to date, an absolutely pathetic attempt. It's an 8,000 arena as well not a 3,000 Winter Garden or Hull Ice Arena. I'm still going, but they have kind of got out of it by adding the Stevenson fight to their Sky coverage (which is on at the same time) although that doens;t help the poor buggers going.

I'm going with a mate and I'm sure it'll still be a decent night out... but it's a shocking card. From Eddie Hearn's tone on the IFL vid you can see he knows it as well. What an introduction from Matchroom to the North East! No idea why Stephen Smith wasn't added to the Newcastle bill... even before Saunders pulled out it undoubtedly needed his name more than the Sheffield card did.

Having said all that, I'm glad it's still going ahead. Would rather have an average night of boxing to go to than no boxing at all.

I'm going as well mate, but it's the fact we have been charged arena prices (£66) for an arena view for a card that without AJ knocking someone over in 30 seconds, wouldn;t look out of place at Gateshead Leisure, Rainton Meadows or the Centre for Sport. It's an absolute joke.

This could be a card that may suprise you the top two fights might turn out to be pretty good actually just have to wait and see.

Yes, i've no doubt Nelson-Wilson will be a good scrap and will have some decent action. But this is headlining a very big arena and neither fighter has been on TV, they are in a very low weight class and have had 14 fights between them - basically nobody outside of Dundee or the North East care about them, and i don;t know about Wilson, but Nelson is certainly not going beyond fringe British level - he'll get well beaten by both Yafai and Conlon and is 29 now and has only had 9 fights.

If you look at Woods, Bull, Coldwell, Goodwin shows, you will get good fights for masters, or southern area (or equivalent) titles, but they shouldn;t be co-headlining a show at one of England's top 10 biggest arena's (10th). It's basically a fucked up card but Hearn and Sky have got away with it by having Joshua in an absolutley pointless fight solely for name vale and by getting the Stevenson fight so their broadcast isn't as embarrassing.

If you mean Dickinson-Simmons as the other, then sadly i can;t see it - JLD is done IMO.

Agree with all of that. It's basically a decent Gateshead Leisure bill at this point. Wonder how many people will choose to get a refund?

I'm in a similar boat with the Birmingham show, with the Texas show being an afternoon one over there (McDonnell and Burns will definitely get shown) I'm sure its gon na have a detrmental effect on the Brum card which at the moment looks really poor.
