Sh!t fight. I'll be watching but Khan deserves some serious flak for taking this fight when there are multiple better options out there; and for much more money too!

so sorry tiny its not often people ask me questions loltiny_acres wrote: I'm sorry but you ignored the question.
Does Kahn have the mass appeal for a ppv as Canelo does?
Does Kahn really stand to make as much money as Canelo?.
hmm it depends who khan faces but by himself nope
no he will never make money as canelo doesnt duck.. and if you cant tell him i am livid khan is taking this fight
Re: Khan v Algieri official
I don't think Amir Khan's an avoider tbh.TheCobra wrote:Khan could be a part of that against Brook and make a career high payday, so to me there's no other excuse for it - he's just on the avoid.
I DO think that this Mayweather bauble blows everything out of proportion. There's all this talk about 100 million pound mega riches - that's right - mega riches to Mayweather!
That shouldn't get slung on the scales against every prospective alternative fight.
Someone else said it - Brook Khan will be worth more in 12 - 18 months than it is now probably - although that's not much consolation to the boxing enthusiast today.
I've no doubt Khan is ready to fight Brook and Brook is now asking for Khan I'm hearing after his win over Jo Jo.
As a side point - a half fired up Khan against Algieri is a bigger banana skin than a fully fired up and switched on Khan against Brook.
Re: Khan v Algieri official
Khan is so so clearly avoiding Brook, and trying to hold out for a fight with Mayweather. We all know this.
Brook is too much of a risk for Khan. Khan is all ego and wants to be associated with an elite fight, which really only comes when fighting Mayweather.
Brook is likely to knock Khan out, certainly there is a big risk of it which would shatter Khan's whole setup and ridicule his own hype that he is next in line behind Mayweather and Pacman as the top p4p fighter. If Khan lost to Brook his stock would be severely dented much more so than if he lost to Mayweather
Talk about this fight being bigger in 12 - 18 months is foolish. Do we all not know what tends to happen in this scenario? Yes, one of the fighters loses and then the hype, anticipation and demand goes... Specificially in the scenario of Khan and Brook it is very likely Khan will get very badly knocked out at some point in the next 12 - 18 months.
Personally, i hope Khan doesnt get the Mayweather fight. The way that he has waited, waited and waited for that fight is pretty sad.

Re: Khan v Algieri official
Before i put my view out there i want to say that brook and khan are by far my favourite British fighters. I love watching both of them.
My main point is a little off track compared to the other comments. I think a big part of the problem is boxing itself and the way it runs. Khan has obviously got no issues getting in the ring with anybody, I think his record speaks for itself on that one. Now it has become obvious that khan is avoiding the 'punchers' and the riskier guys in and around his division. I can't see an argument against the above.
The problem is that although khan is (arguably) the most entertaining boxer at the weight he is obviously aware that another defeat would really damage his career at this stage and drop him significantly down the pecking order. If fights were made for entertainment ( let me dream) then khan would be fighting the paquiaos and mayweathers and brooks etc. Unfortunately in boxing a defeat has real significance, more so than how entertaining you really are. Therein lies the problem.
Brook is rightly trying to capitalise on his win vs porter. I dont think anyone holds that against him. If i am getting hit in the face for a living i want paying the most money right? That goes for khan too. That fight is huge and it should happen early next year. I foresee brook fighting more jo jo dans for the exact same reason as khan is fighting algieri. Both are waiting for the mayweather vs paquiao fight before jostling for position. They have to tick over.
Now, if either get the shot at the winner of mayweather vs pacquiao then they will take the big money. If NEITHER get that fight then bring on wembley.
In the words of al pacino "its not personal, its strictly business'.
Having said that, the fight vs algieri is watchable but a shocking pick for the armchair fan.

Brook means nothing over here. After a few more wins, he might. Khan v Brook ain't that big yet. Brook being a belt holder means nothing anymore. There's over 100 of them. And that's just the WBA!
Khan v Algieri will sell to the US public. And that's a very large chunk of Khans market.
Boxing is a business. This is a business decision.
To us it is, but not to the average sports fan. They don't know who Porter is. That's the point.
The lads at work will ask me "who's fighting this weekend". If I say Khan against a bloke who went the distance with Pacquiao that means more to them than Kell Brook, Shawn Porter or Keith Thurman. They're more likely to tune in.

Either way, you still have to explain who Algieri is to them. And if you were to give them the full story - that Algieri got dropped multiple times & lost about as widely as is possible against Pacquaio - they'll presumably lose interest again anyway.Taansend wrote:Horse wrote:Brook beat Porter in America. Regardless, the guy to blame for this poor excuse of a match-up is Al Haymon, simple as that really. Just look at what's happened recently to Quillin & Garcia - the way they've been managed over the last 18 months sums up everything that's bad with boxing.
Re: Khan v Algieri official
Maybe they will, maybe they won't.
But they definitely don't care about Brook.
Khan has a chance to fight the winner of the big fight. Appearing on a New York bill against a Pacquiao opponent makes perfect promotional sense.
It's not what we want but it's part of a bigger picture.
Brook Khan will be just as big in a year

Amir Khan isn't a ducker in the sense that he's scared to fight anyone but there is absolutely no excuse for not accepting the Brook fight
Most money, biggest crowd, more kudos and a world title,Algieri is a blown up LWW who only moved up because Pacquiao had no one to fight
People who believe in the mantra "boxings a business" shouldn't whinge when 90% of fights are treading water for "the big fight later in the year"

Paulie Mali....the Magic Man thinks that Thurman, Brook and Khan are the best three Welterweights in the world right now.

Re: Khan v Algieri official
I can only imagine that Khan imagines if he destroys Algieri it'll look better than Manny's effort. I'm disappointed, the Broner bout would have been a much better bout.
