39 WBA “world champs” in 17 divisions?
Re: 39 WBA “world champs” in 17 divisions?
Emmanuel Lopez is the WBA Super-featherweight champion as well, he is ranked number 109 by the IWBR, he has never beaten a top 100 opponent.
Carlos Zambrano is also the interim 126 holder

Didn't realize that Hekkie Budler won a WBA belt at cruiserweight.....pretty impressive for someone who is 5'3" and not much more than 100 pounds.
Maybe a move up to HW for a Klitschko or Wilder bout next?

The only thought I can muster regarding this clusterfuck is:
have they forgotten about further monetising super-featherweight, or does Uchiyama have compromising photographic evidence of the WBA ratings committee committing indecent acts with inanimate objects?

Uchiyama seems to have been "coerced" into "accepting" the super title earlier this year. He had apparently turned it down in the past when they tried to force it on him. When they upgraded him he basically said "I intend to destroy the regular champion".Datsue wrote:The only thought I can muster regarding this clusterfuck is:

It's pathetic, isn't it. Money grabbing wankers.
We need one belt each in ten divisions.
Lightest weight under 50kg, heaviest over 100kg with 8 weights in between.
Sorted.

I wish they would invent a WBA "Third Tier Journeyman" title @ 154 pounds
maybe I can fight Charlie Zelenoff or Andrew Hartley for it and become the world's champion.

I renewed my Federal ID some time ago. Right now I am trying to save the funds, $500 a side, to see if I can't get a promoter to match me with someone of like class rather than dive head first into the pit again like the last time.

Give it a couple of weeks. You just made a suggestion where the WBA can make another buck.HomicideHenry wrote:I wish they would invent a WBA "Third Tier Journeyman" title @ 154 poundsmaybe I can fight Charlie Zelenoff or Andrew Hartley for it and become the world's champion.
It is a given that they will do this.

Is that how that works at that level? Pay the promoter some $ & get a more reasonable opponent for your skill level or you get throw in with a 8-0 (6), 80 amateur fights kinda guy or w/e?HomicideHenry wrote:I renewed my Federal ID some time ago. Thats how it works in the real world, yes. Ever take a gander at "MakeaFight" and you will see from time to time, "Slot Open, $500 a side" which means u buy ur place on the card--- and also the $500 covers ur opponents purse and possible DNA test if they need one. You get jack, other than the privelage of fighting someone on your own level, cus you are buying a win.ReggieDiggs wrote:Is that how that works at that level? Re: 39 WBA “world champs” in 17 divisions?
We had a perfect example as to why there are so many organisations just this week.
A 'champion', a good one may make up to three defences a year, maybe 4. If like at lt heavyweight you chose to give one of those shots to a guy that is not even rated in the division (Bika) then a real contender, one who has fought for years to get rated, misses out. What hope does he really have to get a shot. So he looks for another organisation that will give him what he deserves. Therefore all the ABC's

This is why I don't pay attention to who holds what belt. Belts are meaningless; it's all about who you beat.
