You know that Pac already battered Rios?
Yeah course I do and he boxed very well but he didn't really bust Rios up, just dominated him but Brook will do to Brandon what the Pacquiao of old would have done

Rios is tough but I couldn't see him lasting the distance with the Pacquiao that demolished De La Hoya and Cotto but I still give Manny credit for winning pretty much every round

Rios would be a good fight if Brook wins people will take him a lot more serious in the states plus it will be a barn-burner
BUT the most realistic and logical fight his the Khan fight.

Realise this is not likely to happen but they say Wembley stadium is booked for the 13th June, why not put on a top quality card and make tickets available at a reasonable price.

Should be able to put on a decent line up with his fighters not already lined up for bouts…..Brook v Rios (or whoever), Quigg (Frampton probably unlikely), Joshua, Haye, Bellew, Clev, Fielding (although Smith fight probably best off in Liverpool) etc.

I think it will be a beatable name fighter - Algeri, Alfonso Gomez, Berto... the usual suspects.

Known quantity in US, preferably someone who has given Pac or Khan difficulties.

They need a bridge to the top 3-4 names.

Marquez qualifies.

Brook has had 2 bouts at title level (including Jo Jo) Khan has far more experience and has wide recognition in the USA, he can look for a big Vegas bout and even if he lost there would still be the Brook bout available.
Salita was worse than terrible. He would not have made the uk top 10 light welter at the time
This is true, he was awful against Khan, didn't belong anywhere near him. Can't believe that fight was PPV!

Brook wants 2 summer fights

Post by Crease »

Good topic this, especially if we discount Amir Khan, because it's just not going to happen within the next six months.

Kell has already come out and said that he wants 2 fights this summer, his next fight will be May 30th and after that, probably August.

In my estimation I think that Kell should be targeting fights against former Welterweight World Champions. Only fights against these guys would give him the credibility and recognition that he rightfully deserves. Adding a few World Champs names to his resume would do Kell the world of good.

And in that regard, I would say that there's two different categories in this:

Class A
Guys like Tim Bradley, Marcos Maidana and Juan Manuel Marquez who are undeniably BIG names in the sport, but could prove very difficult tests for Kell to navigate.

Class B
Guys like Paulie Malignaggi, Andre Berto, Roberto Guerrero and Victor Ortiz - who I think that Kell would have a very good chance of beating them handily enough.

If Kell starts adding recognised names to his list of victims he further strengthens his cause and adds a bit of star quality to himself.

I think they'll go for Rios. Kell should beat him comfortably and may even stop him late on. Then a former Mayweather opponent, maybe Guerrero or Ortiz but obviously we'd prefer Maidana. If Brook stops one or both the headlines write themselves.
