Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
Bika won the last round.
Pathetic behaviour from Stevenson there.

Why did Macklin give Stevenson the last round? Because he was being cocky?

Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
Tony bang on with his analysis, Adonis's loss makes him the fighter he is, really cagey and hard to hit because he knows he can be hurt. Very dangerous fight for Kov. And he really is a classless prick too
Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
It's good but very predictable and all he has in terms of meaningful power punches. Kovalev is better rounded and I'd still favor him over Stevenson.ThereByTheGrace wrote:I think Stevenson will beat Kovalev. That left is just too good.
Someone mentioned how low Adonis carries the right and I think that could be a problem given that Kovalev throws a very good left jab-hook type blow over people's right hands. At the same time Kovalev can reach in too much and he needs to be wary of counter lefts from AS.

Fair enough, I would hope we get to see the fight very soon. Kovalev is good as well, but I prefer Stevenson's slickness and boxing ability to Kovalev's power and punching.crusader wrote:It's good but very predictable and all he has in terms of meaningful power punches. He might not carry his right as low against Kovalev. Would love to see it and I would be backing Stevenson as that left is the best in boxing.
Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
He's carried his right low every time I've seen him and I doubt he'd change that; it's part of his style.

Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
Ok, but Stevenson is a counter puncher, his low right could set traps for Kovalev for that straight left.
Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
Is Stevenson really the better boxer though? Kovalev is not a fancy dan but he seems to have a decent brain which he uses to set up his power. Stevenson may move more, but he's fairly one dimensional.ThereByTheGrace wrote:Fair enough, I would hope we get to see the fight very soon. Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
Dominant performance as expected from Stevenson, I had it 118-110 and I think he made Bika feel his power as early as the first round as his legs stiffened a little a few times, and Sakio wasnt as busy and bustling as he is ususlly, not much needed apart from that left hand,
The first KD was never legit although I thought it was a stonewaller at first, the second was textbook Stevenson
I've never seen a 37 year old as sharp as Adonis,I know he turned pro late and I expect his engine and punch resistance to be fine but his speed and reflexes are amazing, you hardly ever hear anyone mention his age as its never looked an issue
Hopkins and Mayweather take note, just because your over 35,doesn't mean you have to be boring and spoiling to win fights![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

The rubbish rankings again.
Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
Kovalev's boxes brilliantly on the front foot, very subtle, but he manoeuvres opponents around the ring with his footwork and works openings with feints, head movement and the jab.J-C wrote:Is Stevenson really the better boxer though? Dunno J-C, I just hope the fight is made and we can all see. I think Stevenson is a better boxer than Kovalev, but that's just my opinion!
Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
Kovalev I think will be too strong and bully Stevenson around and I would love to see it playing out where Kovalev bullies him and eventually stops him. Stevenson deserves to be wrecked and put in his place.

Mightily impressive Beterbiev, he's an absolute BEAST. Worried he's gonna be moved too quickly with these knockouts though, as he's not getting the experience he will need.
A merciful and brutal knock out that.

That Russian dude who was on after Stevenson looks the part as well. The Light Heavy Division is kinda bare so he could make an impact very very quickly.

Loved the way Beterbiev just turned around and walked away before Campillo hit the canvas, frighting power,he's a great addition to the LHW scene

Hype is going over the top again, can't see Gavern wiping him out either.

It was very swift and brutal. Surprised Campillo got up so soon.MightyWarrior wrote:Mightily impressive Beterbiev, he's an absolute BEAST. Worried he's gonna be moved too quickly with these knockouts though, as he's not getting the experience he will need.

Be very interesting to see who he goes in with next...

Pumped for an AJ TKO!

Peter Fury - "We had Gavern over for sparring. We sent him away after one spar. He's hopeless"
Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
Gavern had a a fight three weeks ago. I wonder is that will affect him positively. He did not have too much time of the gym and into McDonalds.
Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
Did the MC do a "woooh!" for Gavern there ?
Great MCing if so.

Re: Newcastle and Stevenson v Bika discussion
Hopefully Joshua shows some discipline and doesn't try to blow him away early like he normally does.
