Yes, it was, but Cloud did not land any good shots before being destroyed in a prison style inside collision with Beterbiev.Baby Face Finster wrote:You don't think Tavoris Cloud hits hard? I know he came into the fight with a few losses but the way Beterbiev destroyed him was impressive.crusader wrote:Which notable punchers has he fought and what type of shots did they land? Hard to say that he's proven that he has a good chin given who has hit him and the fact that he was down two fights ago.

Re: Andre Ward fighting June 20 on BET(?)
Just the way he fights hints that he is very confident in his chin much like the vibe that Golovkin gives off about his. No one dragged into an inside fight with Beterbiev between 168-175 stands a chance of winning. If they can keep him at the end of their punches they stand a chance but I don't think anyone at 168-175 can do that for 12 rounds.ikorolev wrote:I am pretty sure that Ward could go 3-4 rounds without getting tagged by Beterbiev. Andre just doesn't have sufficient pop himself and will not be able to keep Artur off him for 12 rounds.
Speaking about Kovalev, he is also more technical than Beterbiev, so he can land a few clean shots before getting tagged by Artur. Here is where unknown quality of Beterbiev's chin would matter. I suspect that he has a good one though.

Ward is either delusional about his value or J.Prince has a gun to his head. Either way, I won't seriously rate him again until he shows initiative to take a fight against a top 20 foe.hurricanemitch14 wrote:I guess u missed the 200 post about Ward taking a warm up.
Regardless he will still need a tuneup and fighting a guy that everyone approved to fight AA twice on BE fuckin T.....im ok with it. Im not at my house handing out hugs because of the news but im ok with it. After june 20th and he picks a paul smith, ill be at ur house right next to u bashing the shit out of him.

Awful match up with a guy who is 0-4 against world level opponents. Whilst we can roll out the "warm up" excuse wasn't his last bout a warm up?... And the last time he faced a genuine contender was..... When?

Yes. Give him a call. I don't know who you are, but you can't be a worse opponent than Paul Smith.JeanClaude Van Damme wrote:Can I fight Andre Ward?

I can't hate on Andre too hard for the caliber of opponents being discussed. Guy has been off awhile. I can understand him not feeling as comfortable vs the top guys.
I'm obviously not excited about anything I'm hearing either, but I think Andre is so high above this division I wasn't excited about anything when he was active either lol. So basically not a whole lot has changed. Andre is a high level mfer whatever the case, but to get me excited about a Andre fight he's gonna have to have a catchweight fight with GGG or GGG will need to move up or Andre will need to move up & get into the Adonis/Sergey/Artur mix. Anything that happens beyond those things gets a yawn response from me. So if its Paul or Carl don't really make much of a difference. Sorry Andre you still a bad mofo, but ain't sh!t happening at 168. Its a decimated division for Andre.

I agree with most of that except I feel there are opponents at 168 that he could still fight and pass off as credible.ReggieDiggs wrote:I can't hate on Andre too hard for the caliber of opponents being discussed. The James DeGale v Andre Dirrell fight, Carl Froch's future plan and a number of easier tune up fights should he feel like staying busy is enough to keep me interested in Ward fighting at 168.
Throwing Ward into the 175 mix is exciting for sure should he go that route, GGG moving up would be very interesting but I get a feeling that might be a lot further away due to the current size difference between them.
There's a lot on the table when it comes to Andre Ward.
