Froch been stripped again?

Post by stujones »

Just a question, it seems like Sturm vs Chudinov has been upgraded from WBA interim to WBA regular title. So I assume, unless that WBA are going to have two regular champions (to go alongside a future interim champion) that either Ward or Froch have been stripped of the WBA title?

He's going to lose the title whether he fights Ward or not, so he might as well lose it now.

TBH I'm glad he's been stripped and so should he be, its a paper title and we all know you get more respect being titleless :?? than you do for being a Regular champ

It's the WBA ffs! They've probably upgraded Froch to Extra Special Super Duper Champion or something equally as daft!

Has there ever been a case where the Regular champ has dismissed their belt and publicly stated that they won't be satisfied until they beat the real WBA champ?

Froch should have been listed as the "Unified" champion, if he was stripped of the IBF he'll have not been unified champion any longer so no longer any type of WBA champion... I guess

froch hasnt fought for nearly a year and isnt likely to fight again soon so he should be stripped. if he's a boxer he should box!

he's trying to cherry pick a send off, but why should the rest of the sport bow down?

Ward on the other hand hasn't fought in almost 2 years. And hardly anyone says a word.....

Errrr no, Froch has had to put off a fight in Vegas because of an injury. It's been made clear by people who have a clue on here that the Chavez fight was all sorted until the injury. Ward was injured in 2013. All of 2014 was spent feuding with his handlers. If you are going to call for Froch to be stripped, you can't say in some mincy little voice 'ohhhhhh no Ward should keep his belt.'

Even Ring magazine have stripped him of their belt because he's been taking the p1ss for so long.

Froch didn't have a fight in Vegas, injury was the excuse for it not happening. The same people were saying the Chavez Jr fight was done for at least a month before they came out with the injury line.

It would help if there was someone interested in fighting Ward and he has now confirmed a date to return to the ring. Froch deserves to be stripped regardless of inactivity because it was a paper title.

and froch was chasing after chavez jr for what reason? it isn't even a serious fight, no one wants it. froch just reckoned it was a semi-creditable name to beat to end his career in the usa. he's the old man in the nightclub, ready to pounce on the fat single mum at closing time to prove he is still virile while GGG is banging the beauty queen.

GGG's record is weak compared to Froch's. His best win is against Murray.

Why bring him up?

Pardon Cross confirmed the fight was ready to be announced before the injury came along. Once again you're acting like someone in the know, like Manc Hitman when all you are is a kid living with his parents in Preston. So saying 'this is how it is' as if you have any authority is just so glib.

Well that I don't know, but it's hardly a new policy is it? McDonnell v Komeda was only officially announced a week or so back at a press conference, likewise Burns v Fig, despite u s knowing that it was going to happen straight after McDonnell's last fight. I assume it's just a case of the promoters in the US wanting to confirm venue and date details after the purses and such forth have been sorted out. But then maybe you know more about the back room stuff than me what with you being (judging from past posts) a trained lawyer, manager, promoter and ballet dancer.

All I'm saying is that sometimes the information being fed to people isn't always true. I get told stuff about North End, from someone I have no reason to doubt knowing where he gets it from, but not all of it actually happens. Doesn't mean that he's lying, or even that what he's being told isn't true. He told me that a deal was more or less sorted for a player in January and that it should be announced in a few days when everything was tied up, the player never signed. Doesn't mean that they didn't have a deal agreed or were close to one.
