I would agree, Khan is afraid to lose. He is too proud.

I would also say that Khan doesn't really want to box anymore either. I don't believe his heart is in it, his interest has waned and he has made it clear that he does not want to chase belts anymore.

He is simply chasing a big Floyd/Manny fight which will give him a massive paycheck. He will not be expected to win so he cant lose! After that he will retire. He has already stated he wants to retire before 30, which is in less than a year.

I sure as hell hope he is not a boxing commentator, unless he only does it in the UK. You can't understand him at all, when he tries to talk. Even interviews are hard to understand. He is worthless as a commentator here in the states.

He's already been KTFO twice in his career and for a guy with a dodgy chin, who's still in his 20s he's shared the ring with plenty of quality opponents.... Before Khan signed to fight Maidana I was on this forum listening to how scared Khan was to share the ring with the heavy handed Maidana, after the fight happened we heard about how Maidana was a limited brawler who Khan got a gift over. Fast forward a few years and Maidana is now a quality welter who Khan is scared to face. You couldn't make this shit up. If he fights Algieri I will be disappointed, but no more disappointed than when Garcia fought Salka instead of giving Herrera a rematch, or no more disappointed than seeing Cotto look for someone at 147-154 to defend the lineal 160lb title against, despite GGG being the clear #1 in the division. Or no more disappointed than hearing Andre Ward (that's the guy who is the 2nd best fighter on the planet) is potentially going to be fighting Paul Smith in June. Seems a bit strange to single Khan out, when everyone is pulling the same shit.

The mind of the average boxing fan when it comes to the mindset of boxers is a juveniles level of understanding. Its straight from the 8th grade.

Khan can try to spin it anyway he wants, but it won't help. All the recent crap he has filled the media with about Brook not being on his level, he wants only the biggest fights, blah blah blah. Then chooses CA? He also turned down Bradley. Broner would have been entertaining too. If he wants some respect in the division, he has to fight the top guys. He has had enough warm-ups. He is afraid he would lose, plain and simple.

Floyd fights in September, so not sure why he even mentions him now. Due to Ramadan Khan can't fight in September. Anyone think Floyd would fight Khan now even if he could? Maybe if Khan beat someone like Brook, Thurman, Bradley, Maidana, or even Porter, but he turned them all down. Hell, even Berto is much better than CA.
Bad I agree with you, I am gutted at this fight and was hoping for a classier opponent as you have mentioned.
waiting around for this big fight with pac or MW is making a rod for khans back and realistically there is little chance MW will fight Khan as MW had plenty of opportunity to make it happen but instead fought Maidana twice.

Bad management for Khan to put your career on standby on just in case

Boxing fans are the most active boycotters in all of sports

Jfc man. There are unjust wars & unjust laws, horrible things being done all over the world including in your own country & you are boycotting a boxing match on TV. Grow the f#ck up. Don't watch the fight. Don't watch any fight. Who gives a f#ck. Its boxing match ffs. So much f@ggotry among boxing fans.
I know. I'm the type of dickhead who thinks that bullshit shouldn't be supported. You're the kind of dickhead who has no standards in life so you're good with anything.

Also, you don't have to tell me that there is other fucked up shit. But you're acting like it takes significant energy to not watch a fight and write 7 posts about between now and September.

Also, who still uses homophobic phrases?

Supported lol. No one gives a sh!t is what I'm saying. Support it, don't support. No one cares. Quit crying & whining about silly sh!t all the time. I'm going to support boxing. Anyone who's risking their health & life for entertaining others gets my support.

If you only make 7 posts crying & droning on about nonsense I'd be amazed at your low output. Its a free country though.
Also, who still uses homophobic phrases?
I don't consider my usage homophobic. Being pussified has nothing to do with sexual orientation.

i am happy amir khan managed to again become a
contender. his early career showed he was willing
to fight anyone anywhere. now he seems to not only
have a less aggressive stance within the ring but
when it comes to the choice of opponents too. my
guess is he is trying to solidify his new fighting
strategy with quality, but not necessarily dangerous
opponents. i do not see why knowledgable people
would criticize him for that.

he basically had to rebuild his career from scratch
and managed to turn from laughing stock to subject
of serious talks with the p4p no 1.

if this thread proves anything then it is how stupid
the so called "crowd" can be.

Is it really that hard to understand? Simply put, actions speak louder than words. It has been his words that have caused people like myself to criticize his actions. If he wouldn't constantly tell the public he only wants to fight the best, the biggest names, the elite boxers, then turn around and turn them down to fight a guy coming off an embarrassing one-sided defeat in a lower weight class. Then, to top that off, turn around and try to defend it saying CA is an A class opponent that helped Manny get a fight with Floyd.

If Khan was honest with himself and the public, instead of what he has been, the "crowd" wouldn't be so hard on him. As it stands, his mouth has been writing checks knowledgeable people know he won't dare try to cash. "Kell Brook is not on my level. He is being disrespectful. He cherry picked JoJo Dan. He knows there is not enough time to build up a fight with me. I only want the top guys, the top names, the Tim Bradleys, the Keith Thurmans, the Floyd Mayweathers, the Manny Pacquiaos." Blame him, not the stupid crowd.

point taken. i for one learned through david haye's

someone wiser than amir makes the big decisions

LOL excellent breakdown Ferg. I love when guys say sh!t like they are saying here & their list of "viable" opponents is filled with guys outside of the weight division of the fighter is question.

Thanks for the compliment. :TU:

The thing is… I don’t think BAD INTENTIONS has actually verified the validity of his own claims.
Yea exactly. And I don't think most people who take that sorta stance do check on their own claims.

Not knowing weight divisions is unforgivable. And fwiw all the other reasons you brought up that guys aren't viable I can't hate on BI or anyone too much about cuz it can be hard to keep up with all the politics & clicks & etc. going on that you discussed, but ffs you gotta keep up with the guys in the division. Thats the most glaring issue in most lists like this is guys don't even know who are in the person they are complaining abouts division

Ferg, Jermall Charlo is a middleweight now? Didn't know that.

99% of Khan 's accomplishments were at 135 and 140. Ok to recognize that but also we must realize boxers need to establish themselves at their New weight too. Khan has a good start. His 2 wins at the weight are not top 10 welters imo, but a good start like I said.

Thurman and Khan have a common opponent like Khan and Porter. If you use one example, use the other. Thurman stopped the guy that many thought beat Khan. .

IBF ordered Bradley vs Khan, but Khan turned it down not the networks or Haymon. It could have been made.

I guess the thing with Khan 's next opponent I would prefer is a legit welter because he needs good wins at his new weight. Wins vs smaller guys mean very little.

Do you seriously think he is in line for it? Khan would be, but like I said before you have to prove yourself to get a Floyd fight. Why would he take Khan over someone that knocked Khan out like Garcia? Serious question.

Not that it will come down to it, but all Floyd would have to do is start a "poll" :OhYes: of "Who do you want me to fight next; Amir Khan or the undefeated World Champion Danny Garcia, guy that knocked out Amir Khan?" Its the casual fans that contribute the most money for fights.

I love that there are a bunch of threads open with people whining about Algieri as an opponent for Khan while the recognised #2 fighter on the planet is looking to step in the ring with Periban and those same people don't seem half as negative. A mark of how much interest Khan commands these days or just boxrec double standards at work again? No doubt they have 101 reasons why that's OK though.

I don't find it surprising at all, considering Ward has been out of the ring since November of 2013. Besides that, is Periban a 160 pounder coming off an embarrassing one-sided defeat?

No, he's coming off a crushing 6 round points victory over Octavio Castro, he should definitely be fighting the 2nd best fighter on the planet. Before that he got stopped in 3 by Degale, a guy who is nowhere near Pacquaio's level.... Its a double standard to criticise Khan and justify Ward's fight. Even though Ward is by far and away the superior boxer between Khan and Ward he is still taking a meaningless fight where he is likely to be a bigger favourite to win than Khan. Like I said though, there's a 101 reasons why people will give Ward a pass and endlessly bitch and moan about Khan, but it all comes down to double standards and hypocrisy in the end.

To answer your question obviously it would be one about financial gain, what else does Khan bring to the table? Nothing, dude has no belt, no title, isn't a big puncher, exciting because he gets hit but he runs too much IMHO.

Also he would help Mayweather fulfill a quest of his (to fight in the UK).

Should Floyd put Khan ahead of Garcia is the question? My response is hell no because Garcia is far better than Amir and as you stated why should he take him over some clown he's already KO'd??
