Only my opinion, but i think Anthony Joshua could beat Lucas Brown now. It would be a good fight for Joshua after he gets past Johnson at the end of May. Joshua would have the commonwealth belt and then push on from there. I think after destroying 12 very carefully selected opponents its time to start moving on up.

i think a step up opponent after johnson would be needed. someone similar height but maybe not as big a puncher as lucas browne. would really like to see him vs garry cornish after johnson for british title. garry is young undefeated and would show real ambition although he hasnt fought anyone of note but neither has joshua.

Joshua would obliterate Cornish in a few rounds.

Cornish has been matched even more carefully than Joshua.

Towers or Lewison would be a welcome opponent at this stage.

Joshua would destroy Cornish and Towers as for Lewison he is never anywhere near fit so would gas after a couple of rounds.. As for his next fight after Johnson he needs another tough guy to give him rounds and help him develop skills eg infighting and fighting on the back foot. He still looks a bit one dimensional and predictable at the moment though speed and power are not in question.

Agree that Joshua would beat Browne fairly easily, but don't think it would be a sensible move at this stage. As mentioned above, he needs some proper tests before moving to Commonwealth level - by the time he gets there, the tests should be pretty much done.

I like Lucas and wish him the best but they need to match him very carefully.

AJ against Browne or Dillian Whyte would be good to see. Price would be a good test too. I've only saw Cornish fight a couple times and he looked pretty clumsy.

There are not a lot of opponents at domestic level to test Josh. The top few would be very interesting but no one at this stage is going to risk a loss on a record. Hughie Fury would generate money but again I dont see this fight happening. It would be a good domestic build up and would bring in a few quid for Hughie who like others Josh has faced would get stopped inside 2 or 3 rounds.

A fight with a weening Derek Chisora would be a good test for Josh and it would not be a 100% win for him however I would put it around 99%. I think that would get a good test for Josh and certainly would take him more than 2 or 3 rounds and infact maybe a late stoppage or a points verdict. But the meaning of the fight would be 'lets see what you have got joshua'. I would think joshua would stop Derek at around 4,5 or 6 mark but those roundds would do him good against someone who can at least throw a punch. This is what we need to see, can josh take a shot? Thats not been tested yet. Its all well and good having a great potential like Anthony Joshua but can he take a punch?

There is another unbeaten guy called Joseph Parker who seems to be dispatching boxers so maybe someone like him, but again who is going to risk a zero on his record at this point?

David Price? One more loss from him and he's done so I cannot see that one coming off unless a title at stake. So what about Artir Szpika ranked 7th in europe but has a defeat, but also has an international title to trade? Other than that Manual Charr, Christian Hammer?? Or lets start looking Stateside. Gerald Washington? or the falling Michael Grant.

TBH I can see why Cornish's team are in no rush as he's still new to boxing but I'm sick of reading Gilmour saying this and that about him fighting on big shows and going over to America etc yet he continues to fight Latvians

I'd love to see this as his next 6 fight but I wouldn't be surprised if Johnson is the only one of them he fights in his next 10.

As it happens, until he proves it at a higher level, I've got him losing vs Fury and/or Haye and even the price one is a huge gamble with AJ'S lack of experience.

I think Joshua is being brought along sensibly and nicely.
Price was blasting out his domestic rivals too, and for this reason there would be no reason to stick him in with a Tony Thompson type.
Remember Price had much more experience than Joshua. Joshua seems to have improved a lot since the Olympics which shows he is being handled well, and things should continue in that way.

If Price lands a right hand on Joshua's chin the gravy train is over before it's left the station, I can't see them letting him anywhere near Price. Price has got a lot of faults, but he hits hard enough to knock out any heavyweight with a single punch.

Price got rushed into the Thompson fight and look what happened. They are handling AJ just fine at the minute - he's only had 11 pro fights!

Although saying that, there has to come a point where does make a genuine step up as I'm not convinced Jason Gavern is any better than any of the other 10 before him - so, for me, he hasn't moved on much at all since his debut, which is my only concern. Kevin Johnson is a step up and the correct one to take at this point.

It's a difficult one because when he keeps smashing people, how do you hold him back? People will get bored of 2 round blow outs and you'll get the inevtiable "what's he learnt from that?" comments, which are valid, but he doesn't need to be fast tracked yet.

What he needs is to keep busy - which he is doing (injury permitting). Give him and Eddie a break. He'll step up at some point, and when he does he'll be ready.

Some of the "he should fight blah blah blah" comments on here are ridiculous.

Lucas Browne has bigger fish to fry as he is scheduled (or is reportedly scheduled to fight) Ruslan Chagaev for the 'regular' WBA Heavyweight belt which means Klitschko for the winner (although Chagaev was stopped in nine rounds by Wladimir at Schalke's Home ground back in 2009). So that takes Browne out of the equation.

I do like the look of Big Josh going in with Gary Cornish as you have two unbeaten prospects with an England v Scotland edge to it should sell well in my eyes.

done before we can rave about them, how many lessons have to be learned on here (DAVID PRICE!!! )
